hey guys, any zenkis gone kouki in the rear with the spoiler ? will the kouki spolier fit factory holes on the zenki … i dont mean the oem kouki that looks just like the zenki one… maybes its a jdm kouki wing… but im pretty sure you guys know what im talkin about. the only other oem possibly jdm kouki wing:P will it fit in my zenki trunk or at least fill the old zenki holes ?? THANKS sorry im a ree tee photobucket isnt working for me… !
are you talking about the type X wing?
im pretty sure it bolts right on
2 of the bolts in the JDM kouki wing line up with the holes in the trunk. BUT the other 2 don’t and will not be covered by the base of the wing. So long story NO it’s not a direct bolt on…you will need to shave the remaining 2 holes and repaint your trunk lid. I’ve had a kouki wing sitting around for over a year since I’m too lazy to mount it properly.
how sure lol im pretty sure it bolts on too… as long as their are no visable holes in the trunk its good, if i have to drill another, no biggie… anyone done this or have the one dan has posted, for sale ?
Hey Chad, I wouldn’t be to sure, see cgguy’s post above.
anyone know the difference between the authentic kouki wing and the fake (copy) ones?
ahah im only kididng, yeah i want to know 2 because we are both in the market to get one
The obvious difference is the knock-off wing is made from fibreglass and the OEM wing is polyurathane. As with anything fibreglass you’ll have to do exrta work to finish it nicely and mount it. I’m pretty sure Phil’s (s142nv) pal Vince has a FRP wing. Ask him what it took to make it fit.
The beuty of the OEM wing is that the 2 bolts that actually line up with the USDM trunk do so perfectly eliminating any guess work on placement. But again, the 2 holes on the trunk lid that dont line up will be exposed and need to be re-filled…well, unless you have a zenki SE without a spoiler in which case all youd have to do is drill some new holes.
Hope that helps.
^^ awesome info! thanks
I own an OEM kouki wing, and had a buddy that bought the replica version. The OEM one flowed a lot better with the lines of the car, while my friend’s replica was a tad bit smaller than the real one, and it just seemed like a regular aftermarket spoiler.
I had the body shop install mine when they were restoring the car, and they did a good job lining it up. So I do recckomned spending a few bucks to have it done proper.
