Laptop guys, cursor on the fritz again

Ok, I posted about this nearly 3 years ago when I got this thing.

The cursor will randomly jump back to already typed words when typing, screwing the whole fucking shit show up. Makes me furious.

Forgot what the fix was/is. My palms/fingers/cock etc is NOT unintentionally hitting the mouse pad.

Help?

Could be touchpad driver, or a malfunction with the actual touchpad itself.

Could you guide me thru reinstalling the touchpad driver?

I agree with Ryan. Most likely touch pad driver.

  1. Go to Vendor site
  2. Search drivers for touchpad driver for your model AND your OS (Windows 7, XP, etc.)
  3. Usually they come in .ZIP or .EXE form. If .ZIP, usually they contain a setup.exe file that will run the installation for you. If .EXE, just run that bad boy and it should do it for you.

The above only works if the file you downloaded is newer than the one already installed. In the case of the driver being the same, and still needing to re-install…you will have to do the following:

  1. Right click on My Computer
  2. Go to Manage
  3. Go to Device Manager
  4. Find the touch pad (probably under Mice and other pointing devices)
  5. Right click on the touch pad device and do ‘uninstall’. If it gives you the option to remove the existing drivers, do that too.
  6. Run the setup from the file you downloaded
  7. Reboot
