not sure if i should put this in the huge nerd corner kuz latops arent really nerdy i guess. Anyway, i wanna get a new latop and i used to love dells, but they have gone overoard with all the crap they put on them now. My brother just got his in the mail last week and as soon as you turn it on there is all this shit on it and pop ups its insane it would drive me nuts. I just want something that is very fast and has a good power supply. i dont mind paying in the upper hundreds possibly even over a thousand dollars for one. If comp usa was still here i would have them build me one but alas, they are not. I know technophobia in west seneca will build me one but i have only dealt with them for repairs and not builds. I know tiger direct has some good stuff but im wondering if anyone knows where i can order a built to order latop or anywhere that will make me one, or at least a company that doesnt load all kinds of shit onto their laptops. O and no macs. TAAAAANNNNNKKKS :tup:
Most companies load their computers up before they are sold. So you probable won’t find much relief there. The good news is that no matter where you buy it from, you can just format and start from scratch with a fresh installation of windows. I’ve always done that and never had a prob.
true, but it seems that some of these companies have much less crap loaded on their than others. ive heard good things about systemax but i dont know much about them
what pop ups from dell? I ordered my wifes 1505 for xmas and she has no pop ups. press power, enter her password(which she setup) and thats it. no pops up as you say. make sure you pay for the upgraded battery. My wifes standard battery will last 1.5 to 2 hrs max on a charge
it has all these preloaded programs that when i bought mine in 05, i thought was a little much, not there are way more and they take away from ur memory and from ur computers speed potential
Yeah they definitely have a ton of preloaded shit. But like I said, it’s worth it to format. If you’re not sure how to, just make a thread in the classifieds sections and someone will do it for cheap.
Almost every brand of laptops load their computers with useless stuff. You know what I do? Delete it. You can’t really custom build a laptop like you would a desktop. You are better off ordering one.
yes although i was thinking about going down the desktop road as well. im proly gonn have to do what paulo said and reformat
If you look real close when ordering there is a box to check that they don’t load all the crap. I bought mine 2 months ago from Dell and there was no 90 day trials and misc. crap loaded.

When looking at the laptops, some will have noted “DOES NOT COME LOADED WITH BLOATWARE” which makes shopping for them much easier for you
+1 for re-formatting upon receiving the machine. Then follow ILC’s sticky for securing it.
