picked up a new laptop

I’ve been needing a new laptop for a while now. But I refuse to get a vista OS yet.

On a whim, I picked up a dell xps m140. 1g ram, 128m graphics, windows medai center, 1.7ish ghz processor, dvd rw.

Any good? The kid barely used it but i guess it’s like 2 years old.

I like it because it’s small, well smaller than my old inspiron 8600. I just need it for internet, email and the usual stuff, no games.

The only thing I want that it doesn’t have is internal bluetooth. Which I guess is only like $20.

Guess I’ll check out some reviews. See if I wanna keep it.

I have one. Its decent. Screen gets loose and floppy on some but its not hard to tighten down. Hibernate and Suspend features work well. Good battery life. S-video monitor output is very good.
Dont get mad and twist the case into a pretzel because you will bend it and the CD Writer will start fucking up.

How much did you pick it up for? Its not bad.

Not a bad laptop, for your needs it sounds perfect.

BT adapters are very cheap.

$400 i paid, I know about the loose screens that’s why i believed him when he said it wasn’t used much because the screen was tight as a moofoo.

yeah i like it i think it’ll be my new bitch

$400 is a good price. Enjoy.

ty, after spending a few hours cleaning it up its running really good.

I woulda just formatted anyways, that way start from scratch and not someone else’s shit.

well i didn’t get the install disks, but I made a new username, deleted his username and all his files, then went to work deleting evey piece of bullshit software and whatnot. Changed the registration name lol.

Then I installed the usual anti-fuckyourpceup programs. Also norton system works, some people don’t like it but I’ve had good results with it, fixed like a million problems, defragged. It’s barely the same computer he had.

Thanks for the replies, I read up on a few reviews, seems everyone pretty much likes this m140. Guess it was a good impulse buy.

Dont format a Dell laptop. You will lose all kinds of functions.

Like what? I have had a couple Dell laptops (posting from one right now) and I’ve never lost a function.

the last dell laptop I formatted actually did loose a lot of functions.
It was a pita getting it all back on. and I had the disks. Still had to spend a bunch of time dl’ing drivers and whatnot from dell.

DON’T INSTALL NORTONS… WORSE BLOATED WARE EVER

umm the only funcctions you lose with dell laptops from formating is their utilities for keyboard shortcuts etc… you can download them from their website with drivers.

definitly should format it, its the first thing I did when I got mine new out of the box.

lol I’ve had like 6 dell laptops and never had a problem with “losing functions”

when all the software is located on their “downloads” page
