laptop video card question

are you better off with a laptop that has something like a:
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
or
one that you can share up to 256MB with?

That depends entirely on the video chipset of the one that shares memory. But typically system memory is much slower than dedicated video memory and it’s tied to some poor quality integrated solution in most cases.

If you are looking to do gaming, or anything 3-D intensive. And I am basing this entirely on a vague assumption. The mobile nVidia setup would be best.

shared video memory blows… as already stated, but then again what is it for? if it is just standard web browsing and what not, you’re fine. if it is for games or cad, yea, you’ll want dedicated video memory

it will do some graphics ish. i just wasn’t sure if the newer chip sets that used shared memory were the suck or not.

i mean they aren’t completely worthless, but if you want to play games or anything with any real quality you’re not going to want it

that answers my question.

thanks guys
