Yeah, that’s what I was saying. I only do it as a side business because I put them in a lot of the buildings I build.
NOTICE the Geo bulb is not listed there. Those bulbs are MUCH cheaper. The box reads 30000 for the Geo bulb. Those bulbs actually have a better return. lol
From the webpage “10 years at about 8 hours per day” = 29200 hours
Some cheap thrown together Chinese crap is on the market that runs hot, has a low life span, and is overhyped. There are however good products available.
Okay mike. 30k /1460 = 20.5 years
LED: 20.5 yrs x $3.97 (cost) = 81.39. 81.39 + 120 (purchase) = $201.39
CFL: 20.5 yrs x 6.89 (cost) = 141.25. 141.25 + 24 (purchase x 4) = $165.25
LLI: 20.5 yrs x 31.80 (cost) = 651.90. 651.90 + 18 (purchase x 15) = $669.90
LED over Longlife incandescnet will save you a total of $468.51 $22.85 PER YEAR savings.
LED over Compact flourescentwill COST you a total of $36.14 $1.76 MORE PER YEAR
Does that make you feel better Mike?
I’ll tell you what. I’ll continue to turn in my CFLs for recycling (FOR FREE) and save my self the UPFRONT expense AS WELL AS the life of service expenses over your $120 GEO BULB.
Thanks.
http://www.msissl.com/savings.html There’s a calculator built into our site. They’re figuring in cost savings for electicity due to A/C usage also. A lot of Halogen bulbs run @ 200+ degrees whereas the bulbs we sell run around 60. EDIT I sell the bulbs for $55-65 depending on quantity for the Par 30’s.
Those numbers still aren’t right but I feel better. Thanks.
Commercial savings are much larger for obvious reasons.
here are some real numbers for efficiency comparisons:
MSi LED:
9.5W: 26-38 lumens/watt (depending on color temp)
GeoBulb:
7.5W: 34-59LPW
Self-ballasted compact fluorescent (sylvania):
7W: 54 LPW
13W: 62 LPW
30W 67 LPW
Pin-based CFL:
13W: 57 LPW
18W: 63 LPW
42W: 72 LPW
Linear fluorescent:
T8: 80-120 LPW
PLEASE STOP SAYING LED IS MORE EFFICIENT THAN FLUORESCENT
cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate: fluor > LED
and those were based off of a catalog from 2004, things have only improved since then
Incandescent $31.80 per year
Flourescent $6.89 per year
LED Geo bulb $3.97 per year
They are way cheaper than incandescent and have no mercury like flourescent plus you are saving the planet by using less energy.
The glass in a flourescent bulb takes a ton of energy to produce.
each time you post in this thread your position gets weaker.
It is simple math. I can’t help it if people don’t get it.
my point is proven.
Gotcha.
I swear to God I could say, “The moon is not made of cheese” and someone on NYSPEED would debate me.
You’re off of your meds aren’t you?
so what’s your next thread? prius, the ultimate track day car, once you do the math! and it’s got no mercury.
^It has lead batteries. (Bad)
Says the guy who missed the RACE TRACK SHAPED DRIVEWAY.
Am I wrong in assuming that you went to some form of college?
