Hopefully you don’t use your freezer much. Bottom freezers are sofa king annoying when what you need is on the bottom of it.
I have a side by side now and I dislike how you need to be one the correct side or you are opening a door towards you. Also I hate how narrow both the freezer and fridge are. I can’t wait until it’s as easy and opening a nice wide drawer from any angle to grab what I need.
I just purchased new appliances for my kitchen this weekend, and the salesman told me that even with just the $75 without recycling rebate option, and old fridge must removed. I guess that is how they are interpreting this language
3.Your new ENERGY STAR qualified appliance must be replacing an existing appliance of the same type
This hardly seems like a good deal anymore, as I am sure I could sell my current fridge on Craigslist for over $100. Can anyone confrim or deny this?
It’s not bad…I hated my side-by-side. I have a french door now, with bottom freezer. Shit is tight.
Aaron,
As long as you “register” and get your rebate number before the money runs out, you are guaranteed to get it when you provide the receipts, correct? I want to do what you did, and order mine for end of month delivery (so I can get ready for them), but make sure I get the money by getting a rebate number.
Or… do you have to actually have your receipts in to the program before the money runs out to get it?

you can’t get a number (which reserves money) until you fill out the online form which includes where, when, and what you purchased (including model number). you then have time to mail in the receipt.
If you just want nice appliances (but not ballin’) I’ll make you a great deal on my white ~10 year old current appliances - side by side fridge with water and ice through door, washer, and dishwasher. (or if anybody else is interested let me know)
option 2 (the 3 appliance package is going fast, should be gone in about 2 days is my guess)
lol where did you get told this?
there is no mechanism in place for them to verify if you already have existing appliances or to check what you do with your existing ones, only a requirement that you prove you recycled if you want the lame $50 recycling fee.
Well, it does say it on the front page of the link in the first post. :fyi:
-edit-
Sounds like refund amount will increase if you document the recycling of an old unit.
How Much You Can Receive:
Customers purchasing appliances may receive the following individual rebates:
• Refrigerators: $75 ($105 with documented recycling)
• Clothes washers: $75 ($100 with documented recycling)
• Freezers: $50 ($75 with documented recycling)
^^^
That’s the whole point of this program, lol.
just to make it clear… no you don’t have to already own the appliances and no you don’t have to recycle them. They want you to, but they have no mechanism to enforce.
option 2 is 2/3 gone already
The salesman at Orvilles. He insisted that you have to replace an old unit, meaning that they have to take one away. You only get the recycle credit if the company taking it away is a certified recycler etc etc.
I didnt believe it at first, but agreed that the wording could be interpretted that way. I ended up emailing the program and they said that its not true…so the salesman is an idiot.
he is correct that you only get the recycling credit if they remove it (or you take the appliance to a recycling center).
the recycling credit it not worth it since it’s almost nothing. ($15-$20)
Good call on the email.
