Let's talk high-efficiency furnaces (95%+)

I’m now in the market for a high-efficiency furnace for my home (1500 sq ft. upstairs, 800 sq ft. finished downstairs). I want to get one in the 95% efficent range or up for the federal energy tax credit.

Anyone have some first-hand knowledge on new furnaces and getting the tax credit?

I got one last year… what’s your question? it’s pretty simple really.

I can ask you the same thing. What?

Makes, models, preferences, etc. Looking for any insight into them as I just started looking to buy one.

if you work for a larger company check for discounts that you can get. I got a great deal on carrier/bryant because of my girlfriend’s former job. Then check for discounts with your gas/electric company + govt. discounts like energy star.

then really you just need to shop around and get lots of quotes. try to find small guys that used to work for big companies as they often undercut their former employer’s pricing because they need the business and don’t have the overhead costs. just start asking everybody that you run into in your area who they used.

You have to get one before the end of the year because they credits are expiring. I bought two 93% high efficiency heaters for my duplex. Was real simple to get the money back, just have to do it on your taxes and have the receipts. Check National Fuel to see what their rebates are also, I got $300 each and also $150 for each of the high efficiency hot water tanks I put in at the same time.

I used D. H. Berry in North Tonawanda, and bought Rheem furnaces.

Gotta have a receipt from an approved contractor to get the tax credit. Well, you’re supposed to anyway. You’ll only need it if you get audited.

I do hvac for a living. I’ve been installing a sick amount of 95’s in the last 3 months because of the rebate and its deadline. I work for my uncle and all we install is Goodman(which is a slightly under the radar but I think is the best furnace on the market,we have zero problems with them),and tempstar which is also a fantasic unit.but with 95% it usually can cut ur gas bill anywere from 25 to 35% which saves lots of $.just pm me for details maybe I can set u up for a estimate if you would like.-kyle

OK, now we’re talking. I’ll check with the parent company and see what they offer, if anything.

Definitely want in before the end of year. I’m in Canandaigua, so I’ll have to shop around and see who’s good out here.

 Noted.

Bad-ass. Know any one in the Rochester / Finger Lakes area that you’ve heard was reputable?

Bah, the site’s down if you click on “How To Apply” or “FAQs”

Shit depending on what your looking to have done my uncle probably would consider doing it. But off hand I don’t know any company’s out that way sorry man I’m not to familar with the area and whatnot.
