After 2 accidents and if he still doesn’t learn then may God be with him!
How did I miss this thread?!?!?!

Lucky bastard. I’d LOVE to get 4k profit from wrecking the car. Alas, I have to continue to work

+1,
off topic, One day my friend was telling me about his motorcycle accident which messed up his foot really bad. I mentioned that his squid ass should get some riding boots instead of sneakers and a sock, so he wouldn’t get hurt as bad next time. He tells me “if I had on boots like yours, I wouldn’t have gotten paid man!!!”
And here I am, working…
Shit never seems to work out that way for me. If I did that in a car, I would be in jail for wreckless manslaughter or some shit, and the claim would be denied and the ins. company would be suing me for damage to the road.

No shit? I’m thinking of wrapping my mazda around a tree.
Karma could still bite him in the ass when state farm drops his policy, or raises it through the roof for his new car. There’s no way he’s in state farm mutual, being so young, so he must already pay alot.
It sucks getting a new expensive car and then finding out you can’t insure it, or have to pay $5k/year for insurance. But then I’m sure daddy or mommy could insure it for him, if they don’t already.

As Muckman already stated, they told him they would not be raising his rates. It seems as though he is on his father’s policy, or at least that their agent is a friend of the family. I really didn’t think that would have any pull in a situation like this, but I suppose it may. He pays a fair amount for insurance, but he doesn’t seem to care, especially since he will be LEASING the BMW, so apparently throwing money away is no issue to him. I’ve been trying to urge him to buy something more affordable to him so he can get out of his parent’s house before he’s 30, but its proving as hard to convince him of that as it was for him to take a high performance driving school (as you can see he did not).

Depending on what he told the insurance company and the cops (if they showed up) what happened since there were no other cars/ property damage, his rates will remain the same because by law insurance companies are not allowed to raise rates in certain circumstances. That being said, however they have the right to cancel your policy at any time

Since I was there I know for a fact that the cops did come, however they didn’t write him any tickets. He told the paramedics and cops that he was doing 75-80mph, they looked at the car and believed him…which surprised the hell out of me!! I mean we may have entered the ditch at 75-80 after sliding sideways for a little bit, but we certainly wouldn’t have lost control if we started at 75-80.

Haha, well the first thing I said when we got out of the car was “you shouldn’t have braked!” then I figured he probably felt like enough of an ass, so I dropped it. Trying to argue a point with this kid is like talking to a brick wall, so theres no point. I suggested to him MANY times to come to Watkins Glen with me to learn how to drive his car well, and he insisted that he only cared about going fast in a straight line. I even told him how learning how to drive on the track could potentially save his ass one day in a panic situation…he shrugged that one off too.
I wanted to say “THAT’S why I said come to Watkins Glen!” But I don’t like being an asshole…
please have him come here i would love to call him an asshole or better yet to sundays auto-x so i can tell him in person.

He has no interest in any sort of sanctioned “racing” event. I have tried to get him to drive at the Glen, or even run the 1/4 mile. He doesn’t have a good reason not to drive at the Glen, and his argument against the 1/4 mile is that he has nothing to prove. One catch there though…he advertises an 11 second DD evo in his AIM signature…yet has never been to the track. He insists that he can shift his car as well as anyone, so the only thing he needs to work on would be the launch and he “doesn’t want to beat on his car.” I have told him over and over that learning how to drive your car to it’s maximum abilities isn’t proving anything, its becoming a better driver…but he has an answer to everything. I pretty much gave up on trying to talk to him about anything, he’s too stubborn for his own good.
The ironic part of this? I asked him to drive his car a few SECONDS before the accident and he kinda shrugged it off because he knew that I wanted to take corners in it…its an EVO for christs sake. It was obvious to me that he was nervous about letting me take corners fast so I didn’t push the issue. I can have fun in my own car
