well its not stopping tons of people (all ages, all economic classes) from shopping, eating & being entertained there.
… no, it’s in west homestead… you know… the nice part :ugh:
haha… take a gander off the waterfront and the surrounding areas from the high-level bridge and you’ll see the problem.
i almost bought a house over there when I was 18. emphasis on almost.
Next you will have metal detectors before you go into the movies, I am glad these low class fuckers, “MUST” ruin life for the rest!
i’m not saying its not a shitty area…you guys can be as negative as you want…but thats not changing that fact that tons of people shop, eat, & go to shows there.
& you can kind of compare waterworks…its older but similar…stripmall style with grocery, movies, eating etc…granted waterworks doesnt have as nice of stores…I’m sure waterfront does way better & waterworks is in a “better” area.
i bet if you built up waterworks .(target, more eating, & entertaiment, etc…) it still wouldn’t be as popular as waterfront.
like i said it is a shitty area but that centered location is what draws the people.
move to a nice area of town - AKA, nowhere even remotely close to the shithole known as Pittsburgh.
until it starts plummetting downhill via ghetto trash crime.
Robinson > Pittsburgh Mills > Waterfront
…but I go to Ross Park for nearly everything I need. I’ll take “stinking like piss, previously underwater” Showcase North over driving to the city anyday.
i guess… i mean it’s not really a new idea to put everything in the same area…look at robinson.
i think the waterfront is only nice beacuse of the state grant issued to build it back when… they wanted to upgrade the ‘waterfronts’ of pittsburgh and homestead won out just over MONESSEN… so that tells you the catagorization of the area.
they dumped the money and after a few years are experiencing less and less volume of sales. and less and less attraction to it… it was obvious it boomed becaues it was something ‘new’… but now that it’s not new, people dont care.
compare it to somewhere yuppie like ross… it’s a ‘nice’ mall / shopping area because the local people contribute income to the area… you don’t have that in homestead… you have people that travel to get there and spend their money… more and more of crime like this bullshit going on and you won’t see the people migrating to the area.
also what college students walk through homestead? must be a shitty college because that’s a stupid idea.
just whoring through
:repost:
a shit load of college students go there…its way easier & quicker to get a bus to the waterfront then to robinson or rosspark.
and a lot of yuppies that live in the city, sq.hill, shadyside, etc…they shop there before hiking out to robinson.
Ross Park? Yeah, only the 11A, 12A, 13A, 1D, and R bus lines go to Ross Park from the city
i do most of my shopping in monroeville because i’m real close to me…waterfront is probably the second closest, then waterworks.
Robinson is nice but i’m not hiking out there to go to the mall or grocery shop when other places are way closer.
pretty much the only time i go to robinson is to go to Ikea. or if closer stores are sold out of what i’m looking for…cause i’m never casually in that area unless i’m going to the airport.
when i lived in oakland i use to go to Kcknight cause it was maybe not the closest but easiest travel to & from (no tunnels & least amount traffic)
when waterfront opened my wife & I would go there or McKnight usually.
yeah… i’m a yuppie that lives in sq hill and goes there, or sometimes goes there but hates it…
infact tonight i’m going out of my way to robinson because it’s > there.
people in large think the waterfront is garbage anymore… places like kaufmanns still overcharge due to being a ‘high-class’ shopping area, even though it’s planted in the ghetto and people are going there less and less.
in 3 years no one will go there… it’ll be just like cent III mall.
well when i lived in oakland & had no car. it was 2 buses…one to downtown…switch & one out to rosspark.
thats way more of a pain then 1 bus…plus going to southside works or waterfront is A LOT FASTER then the other mall locations on a bus from oakland, sq.hill, shadyside, etc…
monroeville is probably faster then rosspark…whats that 67A or F
I know a lot of people(all ages) that live in the shadyside, sqhill, etc… area & they do go to waterfront…you go out of your way…but a lot of poeple don’t want to & the closeness will keep it popular.
i dont’ know what people your talking to…but people i talk to & know, ranging from joe schmo to affluient doctors, etc… they all like the waterfront.
Kaufmanns sucks period…weither its in robinson, waterfront, ross, etc…
in 3yrs it will be the same…just as popular as it is now.
local theaters for me, 6 bucks to see a moive at nite, why not, gotta hlep the little man, miht not be as nice as the mills, but cheaper, same movies, same sounds, just less comfy chairs
and besides i worked at the local one before, and if the right ppl are working, i still get in free
don’t know who i talk to??? how about my neighbors??? for as many people as you ‘know’ i fucking live there… why even argue about demographics… as if either of us KNOWS who shops where.
kaufmanns may suck, but the prices are the waterfront are higher than westmoreland, century III, and monroeville… this is a good way to deter shoppers.
peope ‘like’ the waterfront as much as they ‘like’ the idea of motherfuckers pulling guns and shooting in their affluient professional based shopping center.
in 3 years it will … … … - which means dick because no one can predict the future… the sales are sloping downhill and have been for over a year.
less sales + more crime = no more high class waterfront.
I got to the Waterfront for teH Starbucks :embarassd
Then again, I’m not big on fashionable clothes or hair cuts, right Pewter?
I’ve been to Loews a few times here and there. It’s not horrible, but it beats Destinta in North Versailles, and I don’t want to drive 40 minutes to see a damn movie.
yet you drink $7 cups of coffee. :embarassd
