Yessir.
I never drink coffee, so when I do, it’s from Starbucks. Come to think of it, I hardly ever get hot drinks. I get a lot of cold stuff.

The waterfront gets a lot of college shopping from Oakland, when I started at pitt they had shuttles that would take you there and pick you up on move in week. There is definantly alot of crime there, I used to catch shoplifters at the giant eagle and the shop and save which is only a few blocks away, but the shop and save defiantly was the scarier store. Overall though Homestead isnt as bad as some of the places that I have had to work, The northside/bellvue area was probably the worst area by far, and mt oliver/mt washington was pretty bad sometimes.
dude I lived & hung out in the oakland shadyside, sqhill area for like 9-10year, so don’t act like i’m making it up…I still work in oakland & my wife works in shadyside trust me i know a lot of people in the area.
& if your talking about the upscale people
while my wife was finishing grad school she worked for 2 Doctors nannying their kids…so she was chin deep in the stuck up, yuppie, think they are better then everyone cult…meeting with other families for “playdates” for the kids talking kids to movies, B-day parties. etc… hanging out with all the stuck up shadyside academy mothers…all those people shop @ waterfront…ecept for when they need specialty stuff like only shoes from littles, or another specialty store for this or that.
same as whole foods…thats in a shitty area but it will stay popular cause the like it or think its “upscale” & people think its special to shop there…they don’t care about the area. “oh…I shop @ wholefoods…so big fuckin deal i go to shop&save.”
yes there are some that get turned away by the area, but i think that is a small margin
all the city area put together nice ones to shitty ones…sqhill, oakland, shadyside, eastlib, friendship, regentsq…etc…
I bet its like 5 to 1 or greater as to how many go to waterfront then robinson or other mall areas.
like dirty geprge said to me…the shooters more then likely drove there…& they can just as easily drive somewhere else & do the same shit.
thank you…people didn’t believe me
ask anyone in retail which local stores do the best numbers.
nearly always ross park/mcknight road locations.
so because criminals can be mobile… percentage of crime is equal in any area with roads?
i don’t care if you’ve been in ptitsburgh for 29999 years… we’re talking about RECENT sales and RECENT crime… so ask around again, regarding this year… not 3 years ago… the waterfront was big shit from the day it opened until recently.
It’s really gonna die when they start reconstruction of the Homestead-High Level bridge. Nobody is going to want to sit in traffic to get to the stupid waterfront…
and when cranberry is the new big shit.
example:
Amanda and I used to see about two movies a month at Loews. We usually got food, or at least the filled hot pretzels, and mega-sized sodas. We spent at least $75/month there. Thanksgiving and Christmas, we brought her family down there for about $125/holiday. So you figure we spent $1150 down there per year. Not a ton of money for a business to lose, but if there are a couple hundred other suburbanites like yours truly who don’t want to wade through ghetto trash to see a movie, Loews is increasingly fucked.
thats because they have such a wide area/audience
i bet the new mall…works or whatever its call will hurt their numbers.
that used to be the only mall for miles plus they pull people from the city.
like i said if your driving its easier to get there from the city areas then to get out to robinson or monroeville.
when i lived in oakland i shopped ross a lot.
after work 5-6pm leaving oakland to go to a inclosed mall…whats the easiest trip…mcknight rd. hands down
& the people that live in the city area & go to waterfront & ross…usually pic ross during xmas cause its indoors. so that helps them a lot too in drawing people out of the city during peak shopping times.
you did care…you acted like you “knew” cause you lived there…well i lved there too. & still work there. so i do know what i’m talking about.
well we will sit back & see…& someone can be an i told you so in a few years.
not at all.
there’s cranberry to the north, robinson to the southwest, waterworks to the east, the mills to the northeast, waterfront to the southeast. all are less than 25 minutes from Shaler.
it’s the fact that Ross Park is inside, well maintained, and isn’t full of walking ghetto stereotypes that keeps it at the top of the heap. It also helps that it wasn’t built next to section eight housing.
North Hills > *
i think so…yeah cranberry but nothing indoors same with waterfront & waterwoks.
before the works…all the people on northside, up the riverblvd(swikley spelling?? & up further) all areas down rt. 28 oaklmont, fox chapel, etc… up rt 8 to butler or further, up 79 as high as slippery rock or more, unless you go to grovecity or cranberry where else can you shop espically for indoor mall…i think thats a big area.
i’m not knockin ross…i just think they have a great location & that draws in the people all yr. round
i cant wait to go see saw 2 at the waterfront tonight. i bet its gonna be nice and empty. I’m serious.
the theater will be empty because that movie sucked. the shooting has nothing to do with it.
by the way, the killer is Billy Loomis.
If it where in Starbucks that would have been funny!
haha! Thats funny, I was actually thinkin about doin the same
So basically, what you’re saying is, you can either go to Ross Park Mall and get shot outside in the parking lot, or you can go to the Waterfront and get shot inside in the nice climate controlled theatre…
Which would you prefer?
Lets generalize this Thread…EAST OF PITTSBURGH SUCKS IN GENERAL. I was a cop in Braddock(about 4 miles from the waterfront). The retail theft down there is unbeleivable. The theft/vandalism in the parking lots are unbeleivable. The surrounding areas of Homestead are war zones at night. I can’t evn go to the waterfront with out a weapon because I just may see someone who i had arrested. I am now in the North Hills but have lived in all parts (suburbs) of pittsburgh. And from experience of all 4 sides of Pittsburgh my rating would be North>West>South>East. Fuck Homestead, it will be ruined in 10 years. Look at Ross Park Mall, still in great shape for its age, because it is in a higher class area. Thanks, don’t care what you all think of my post…unless you agree
there are ghettos in every cardinal point of the city. Yes, braddock sucks but i dont mind it. I have friends and family that live there.
