working again sorry, im off thurs and friday, it should slide in fairly easy, are you still using that dampening box on the clutch line?

no i figured out what is was. The reason that I had a difficult time getting the tranny back in was because I think the splines got a little bit wrecked from the clutch disk spinning on it. I do not remember if I said this before but all of the splines on the clutch disk broke/wore off. So I think when it fianlly let go and spun on the transmission input shaft it may have hurt the splines. I test fit the new clutch disk on the input shaft and it slid on, however I only put it on like 1/2" to make sure it was the right one. So when I rocked the tranny to get it back together I think it basically forced the new clutch disk onto the input shaft and kepping it pressed tight against the flywheel, not allowing the clutch to disengage.

So today I went to remove the tranny to see what was going on and it was stuck on. I tried for like 4 hours to get it off and I couldn’t. I ended up taking a hole saw and cutting a hole in the bellhousing to make an access hole so I could just unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel to get it off.

So now tomorrow I am going to take my tranny to work, make a puller to pull the clutch disk and pressure plate off of the tranny input shaft, fix the splines and weld the peice back into the bellhousing which will be a pain in the ass being it is cast aluminum that is very dirty. Another option I have is to just make a bolt on cover for the hole just incase(knock on wood) I ever nee dit in the future.

That was my shitty day today.

When does everyone want to meet next? Wed and tues are not good for me.

If it makes you feel any better corey, my battery died today. So I had to get another one :frowning: lol

Lets meet when your car is fixed? or when I get my new bumper and hatch lol (This week hopefully)

wow corey i dont know how you had such a terrible time doin a clutch on that. we did my KA, and my RB in like 2 hours… no issues. i dont know what went wrong with yours. hopefully you havent done to much irepairable damage. im good for any night after 7 for meets

Yah I can meet anytime after 7 too. Lets get more people out. Bring any cars lol. tell your friends.

Hey Cory I had the same problem before but on a different car… I ended up filing the splines of the transmission a bit to clean it up, then it went on like butter!

I have got my new clutch disk on, put the tranny on with the newer pressure plate and it still would not disengage. I tore it all apart agauin today and put ti back together with my old pressure plate that i never once had troubles with and it still would not disengage.
It seems as though the slave cylinder is not moving the clutch fork far enough. I have bled it a couple times, put on a new slave cylinder and it has not changed.

If someone on here could be kind enough to measure how far you slave cylinder moves your clutch fork it would really help me out. I have posted on here a few times in the technical section and have gotten a few replies saying that I shouldnt buy a used clutch and whatever else.

Oh and btw, my slave is only pushing my clutch fork lik 5/8"

Thanks,
Corey

Saw a red s13 very clean with 180sx tails. It was a girl driving unless it actrually was a 180. Same one you saw stu?

um did it have a 180 tail or just a black painted centre section?

corey i can almost garauntee you need a master.

I am actually waiting on my clutch master and it should be here tomorrow. Hopefully that fixes everything

hmm, not sure. Cant remember now. Probably the cleanest 240 in london though, Other then yours corey

mine isnt that clean underneath but thanks.

thats the one, the guys name is matt, ii told him to check us out. he’s on nico…

so the saga continues. I have changed the master and slave, still not disengaging. I have talked to the guys at the parts store who I have known for a while and trust and was told that the only other thing that they could think of was to replace the pressure plate with one from exedy that matches my exedy disk. I will get the new pressure plate tomorrow.

Also, when you get a new clutch for your car, ask for prices of all the peices individually. For my setup(disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing) it would have cost about $100 more if I has bought the kit instead of each peice individualy. I also found Carquest much cheaper for all of my parts except for the throw out bearing was $50 cheaper at Nissan.

ill remember that next time im upgrading, i dont see why the pressure plate could come ionto the mix but its the last thing you can try really lol so good luck!

thanks. a few people have just thought that since the disk is not an oem nissan part that it may be thicker and the pressure plate not moving back enough to let the clutch disk spin freely

Wow, I hope my clutch doesn’t go before my swap (knock on wood). You seem to be having quite the adventure with it Corey.

Lets meet up sometime soon, my front bumper is finally getting painted

when are you gonna decide on what motor your puttin in spencer? hey lets meet next week!

Put on a new pressure plate today and everything worked great after a little pedal adjustment.

Its finally done but i wont be able to meet with you guys for a while because I have school 5 nights a week now and on saturdays nights I have been working and that only leaves sunday and its nice to be able to see my gf at least one night a week. We should try to meet some sunday afternoon

Im still deciding. Its either sr or rb. Sr is easy and reliable lol. But rb is alot cooler, not sure about reliability, but im not super mechanically inclined so I probably wouldn’t be an expert at maintaining it. But Ill have the money and will have made up my mind when I take my car out next spring. :frowning:
