Hey all, I’m new to the forum so I’d just like to say what’s up.
And now to business.
I’ve got an 89 180sx that was trying to sell, and now I’m not sure if I’m going to or not, but that’s not the point. While selling I had a lot of questions about the condition of parts I didn’t know how to check, so I got an inspection done and I’m glad I did before I could sell it because there’s a pretty decent list.
First I’ll give the specs on the car (I know a lot of this stuff doesn’t matter just giving everything I know about it):
1989 Nissan 180SX
Exterior
240SX Spoiler
15" Gunmetal NISMO Rims In Rear
15" 200SX Rims In Front
RSR Downsprings
New 240SX Front End (Flip Ups)
Interior
Remote Start, Power Locks, (Only The Remote Locks Work)
Greddy Turbo Timer
Momo Race Wheel
RAZO Shift Knob
Engine
SR20DET Redtop Motor w/ 61xxx KM’s
Engine has had every gasket and seal replaced.
NISMO Clutch
Skyline R32 Radiator
4 Inch Veilside Downpipe
Custom 3 Inch Exhaust
HKS Power Filter
VLSD
Apex’i Front Mount Intercooler
Inline Heater
Ok and now the parts that need replacing to pass inspection:
Ball joints, outer tie rod ends, struts and strut mounts, wheel bearings need repacking, exhaust needs work, and new tires.
Now my question is, what do you honestly think this would be worth as a parts/project car? (Please be serious) And can anyone give a ballpark on how much to fix it?
IMO there’s not nearly enough wrong with that car for it to be just a parts car. You could probably fix all of that for under $1000 (provided you are resourceful and get used tires from Dollar Tire, fix things yourself, etc).
BTW do you mind me asking who you aquired the car through? A good reputable exporter/importer should have had that stuff fixed (minus tires) before it left Japan.
Yeah this car was in awesome shape when typhoon had it, as you can see by the picture. Then Josh bought it and fucked it up good. Was in three of four collisions with it, the wheel fell off on the yellowhead and it skidded down the highway…
I don’t know how much you paid for it, but I would fix it. Doesn’t seem like there is anything major wrong with it, other than being abused by its previous owner.
4" dp wow how u fit that u have 3" and it bearly makes it. Yah i remamber that car around used to look real nice. 4 collisions haahha thats abuse but fixable
4 collisions? Wow. I was told one incident with a curb and that was it.
Guess that’s what I get for trusting people.
But ya I priced out the main suspension parts at a Nissan dealer for new ones, and got to about 2000$. I have no idea where I would get used parts for it, and the thing about used parts is that I want it to be able to pass inspection.
Other thing is I might need a new exhaust, dunno if this one’s fixable, quite a few holes.
Aaaand the front bumper sags a lot, I’m thinking it’s because the intercooler was mounted pretty poorly because that seems to be what’s pushing it down, I dunno how easy that would be to fix either.
Spec Stage3 Clutch
S14 Radiator
So I was lied to about that too? (I’m pretty car illiterate forgive me.)
EDIT:
This is the best pic I have of the sagging bumper right now.
do not but suspension from the dealership … it is too much $ to be honest … some people on this board have some decent used suspension as well you can buy some KYB GR2 suspension which is equal to or better than stock quality and half the price …
check and see what places like NAPA/PartSource/CanTire can get you before you hit up the dealership for parts …
Could anyone help me out with what this car might be worth, as is? Right now I’d rather try to sell it, maybe buy something else down the road… And make sure it’s inspected and from a more honest seller.
