not to thread jack what do u consider profesionally? cuz if the car runs it was obviously done properly …swaps are easy to do(mounts+plugs) its the condition of the motor itself ur gettting is something to worrie about.
Well I can get pretty much all the main things I need for about 800$ from NAPA. Thinking I’m gonna do that then just get some help putting it all in.
After that, gonna try to fix the fender and bumper. Then I want to install a BOV as well. No idea how to do that though.
well i suggest u don’t buy napa , like typhoon sad u can get some nicer shiet for the price of oem . also use carfiche.com learn how to use it , there is an s13 file. Bov is easy to do just use search button on 240sx.org or something there is like 100 of posts on tech installs. Also FSM should be ur new friend for a while. but s13 are pretty streight forward.
but also he wants to get it back on the road … its godo to hear it is not as $ as before though
Ya there’s another auto shop in town I’m going to check out for prices, and I should get 10% off at both because of where I work so it seems a pretty plan to me…
What about brake pads and rotors? Same as a 240 or no…?
Thanks again for all the help.
K I tried to figure this out myself but I’m still not sure and I want to be before I put out the money for parts.
So since it’s an S13 are all 89 180sx components the same as and 89 240sx, other than engine and bodystyling? As in, would the brakes and rotors be the same as well?
The brakes are different that the 240. You could always upgrade to newer 180SX brakes.

I’m not in Edmonton very often so that’s not really an option. But I guess there’s not really any other option unless I go straight from the dealer. Fuck.
I’m sure you could find some used 240 calipers around. If I find mine in my garage I can ship them to you for cheap.
I thought you said the brakes are different? Or do you mean I couldn’t use the calipers I have now with 240 pads, but that 240 calipers would fit?
I don’t think there are any USDM equivalents for your current brakes. Someone here posted part numbers, but I assume you’d have to get them from the dealership = $$$.
What I meant is you could buy all 240sx brakes, which would be cheap used. You’d need to calipers and rotors I would assume.
Or you could upgrade to the later 180sx brakes, or even a bigger upgrade - the 300zx brakes.
So, 240 brakes would fit if I bought the calipers and rotors? Sorry if I’m frustrating, I’m sort of learning as I go here.
Yes. The calipers, rotors and pads would need to be changed.
Well, since I need new pads and rotors anyways might as well get calipers too.
I’ll order all that, plus that suspension stuff, from napa or somewhere in the next few days.
Since you need the caliper and pad holder for the 180sx upgrade, you need to order semi-loaded calipers or fully loaded calipers. That way they will come with all of you bracketry to make them work.
Ok maybe I shouldn’t be such a noob with this stuff but I am apparently…
So I need semi or fully loaded 240sx cailpers? And what about the rotors?
