If you are doing an oil pump you might as well do a timing chain and vice versa. It’s simply not necessary for a cam only motor though, it’s a huge pain in the balls too. Ask yourself this, if you WEREN’T doing a cam, would you be replacing these parts? I would only suggest changing the oil pump if the motor is fully built and theres nothing else to do, or if you have oil pressure issues.

As far as parts that are just as good or better, its tough to beat TSP on this but there are definitely other contenders such as Thunder Racing, etc. If I were to do a cam again, I would probably have Patrick G spec the cam instead.

Yes! as a matter of fact… it is a well worth mod even if it is a pita on these motors. And in his case he will be installing the motor so it is already out why not do it? I would suggest if he has it out of the car anyways to absolutely do these! there is absolutely no reason not to, it isnt worth the few bucks saved why half ass something?

You are only looking at commercial look outside of the box at performance shops across the country that are killing records with their cams in the LSx market and you will find many more options and in the same price range.
