Lowering Spring question

dunno if this is “technical” or not, but s14 Intrax Lowing springs good or grabage? i have set lying around i looted from the junkyard… dunno weather cut spring are worse or better lol

Cut springs are definitely worse. From their website:

Make Model Year Part Number Type Chassis Front Rear Lbs List Price
NISSAN 240SX 95-98 60.1.003 Spring S4 2.0" 2.0" 29 289

2.3 inches is a pretty big drop for those springs! what kinda shape are they in? Junk-yard chic? or new?

It’s a 2.0 inch drop.

shape is rusted and i can see how it would be 2 inch they are weak…my z32 rear springs are like staning on boulders in comparison

i’d also like to lknow what’s so crappy about cut springs i know they are bad but what’s suppsoe to happen? my friend drives on them and his car is fine…

The problem with cut springs or any lowering springs with stock shocks is you dont have enough dampening.

With aftermarket shocks the problem with cut springs vs. lowering springs is that cut springs are never all exactly the right length and im not sure how the stiffness works, if they get stiffer because their cut or if their the same spring rate. i would think the same, in this case the suspension is too soft and you have way more travel then you have room for resulting in serious bottoming out.

hmm that indeed makes sense, i had thoguht the spring rate might go up but i forget the spring rate math lol, i can easily see how thigns could go very wrong with a progressive spring lol ethier way these are on tociko hp’s, and i guess i’ll sttempt to use the s14 springs
