Funny an MK3 won that… HAHA!
My first name is Norbert and my last name starts with O.
that and i don’t have a fuckin '96 V6 Thunderchicken anymore!
Norbert, wow. Safe to say i’ve never met a Norbert before. Unique.
Meh, you aren’t missing much, he’s a fggt anyways! -_-
You should have changed it to Norbina… Or someone should change it for you.
Ordered a new set of reps (Style 37) to replace the current ones I’m running, they’ll be 18x8 for the front and 18x9.5 in the rear. The M-Parallel style will always be my favorite, but the ones on the car had an offset designed for a 3 series and looked too sunken in even with spacers. Lots of E39ers run 18x9.5s all the way around but the lip on the wider wheels just didn’t look right in the front after test fitting Drew’s, so staggered it is. I have a set of tires I’ll be using on the fronts but need something for the rear, may just end up buying a new set (GASP). Unfortunately it looks like the wheels are backordered so I won’t see them for at least a few weeks.
Test fit of the wheels courtesy of some d-bag running them on his mullet-mobile
JD fabbed up a SS extension of my exhaust to dump out the back, which solved the drone I was sick of. Since my regular rear bumper doesn’t have a cutout for an exhaust tip, I trimmed a bit away for a temporary solution. I have an M-Tech rear bumper that has a diffuser and a single exhaust cutout, just need to have it painted.
Took a ride out to a car show in Pendleton at a church event with a friend and my fiancee on Sunday, great day for it.
Where I found that one of my manifold bolts had backed out and was missing.
i am thinking about the following badges, anyone have input?
I have the 650iL badge in my kitchen drawer, and originally had the intention of ditching the “L”, rearranging the 5 and 6, and have 560i. however, the percentage of people on the road that actually know what a 540i is, let alone a 560i, is close to none. so, i’m possibly going for something a BIT more obvious, while still being subtle. the car is completely stock on the outside save for the exhaust tip which still looks factory, so i want to keep it low key.
2005-2006 GTO 6.0 Badge
Keeping in line with the German theme, this is a 6.0 badge off a W12-engined VW Phaeton
and this is a Ford F350 Powerstroke badge, but I like how it’s subtle and black. unfortunately being originally off a truck the badge is physically large (over 4" long) and would look tacky IMO on the back of my car.
if you guys have any other badging ideas feel free to chime in.
Meh just wait and get 6.0TT
VW badge. As much as it hurts me to say.
Being LS/LQ based engine…I’d go with the GTO badge. Gives just enough insight to what’s under hood.
No badge
my pass side manifold bolt Is missing as well. but upon further inspection I realized it wasn’t missing at all, but the head was snapped off. lol
someone’s looking into headers eh??!!
good luck with that shit…they all seem to break off. when i bought this motor it had 3 mani bolts broken in the head
I think I may go with the 6.0 badge, but the fucker is $45 on gmpartsdirect. 12.95 shipping on a fucking 1oz piece of plastic!
Have it CNC’d! Or, if you’re nuts, do what I did and make it from scratch with 1/8" aluminum, a jeweler saw and some files (refer to avatar).
Wish I had the spare time and steady hands for that. I think I may have to go with the 6.0 badge off the GTO, I just like how simple it is. The gay VW font is really unattractive.
By the way Mike, when can I drop by and return the engine crane?
Get the badge from ebay.
Yeah, I did that back in college when I was much more motivated. I’ll drop you a PM…
Mike. I want that 55 chevy in your sig in the worst way. I think about it every time you post. Just thought I would share haha.
Oh and Norb like I said studs can work well for the rears but I have had my issues with them as well. I had arp bolts in my last build and had no issues. The manifolds went on/off a million times too
no badge.
Got together with a few friends over the weekend and did a few pulls. Beat Dave’s supercharged E36 M3 by about a car length, and Tim’s tune/exhaust E39 M5 by about 2-3 cars.
