My heads are at drake’s machine shop. A few of the scooby guys go there and my manager used to deliver there 20+ years ago and had heard nothing bad of them.
priorities. i would have loved nothing more than to thrown in a nice 228 cam or something like that, but then i would have had to pay $300 for that, and then a few more hundred at the least for pushrods and springs. didn’t make sense to be sinking $600 or more into engine mods when i still don’t have a trans, clutch/fw, driveshaft, and other absolute necessities.
when the swap is running fine next summer, i can start to play with cam options and make big power. for now i just want to make sure it runs right, and take care of the basics.
oh, and the fact that some 'Rican sold me the cam with only 16K on it for $90 shipped helped
Need any help or have any questions…let me know we knows how its done here beibgs we have swapped lss into everything…look for an ls swapped sc300 at import vs. domestic in maryland this fall
I’m sure I’ll have questions at some point. This morning I was thinking about oxygen sensors on the way in to work…I would assume I’ll have to use GM sensors in whatever exhaust combination I end up with? I will have the tuner code out the 2nd 02s when they flash the PCM.
Yeah I’ll definitely need someone to look over my PCM and recalibrate everything needed to make it run right. Engine modifications will be very minimal so the tune should be close I’m assuming. However, the PCM is out of an (obviously) automatic 2003 Express van, while I’ll be going with a T56, so the PCM will need to changed to think it’s a “manual”. Other than that, I want 2nd O2s gone. I know nothing about tuning/recalibrating PCMs, anyone else have input?
What does your E36 buddy have left over? I still need a lot of stuff. Namely a T56, clutch/light flywheel. Maybe some cheapo headers.
