LS1 Silverado Ext Cab

Well im sure most of you probably dont even know me on here so i figured id post up a little bit about my project. I have a 02’ reg cab short bed Sierra with a cammed LS1. My best time on my old setup was a 13.3x’s which imo wasnt to bad considering it was 90* at the track and it was on a bone stock trans (which btw someone on here told me wasnt gonna happen cause trucks have no weight in the bed and i didnt do any suspension work aside from my 2/4 drop, looks like they dont know everything bout drag racing). Since my last time i raced i have put a converter in with a 4k stall speed (replacing my old pos 3k) in and a built 4L65E and a couple other little mods, i would like to think this would easily put me in the 12s with some good weather… but it wont be in a little 4000lb truck anymore lol.

Recently i purchased this truck and am plannin on swapping over all my driveline to it and selling off my Sierra. Its an 02 Silverado 2wd. No major appearance mods will be happening to this one though, i want it to look as stock as possible, so maybe some 2" lowering shackles for the back to keep it level and some painted to match parts. ive since started taking off the side moldings and debadging it (yes the bed bars are off lol). As far as the driveline im gonna go from my shitty TR224 cam to a 226/226 custom grind, as for the converter ill probably have it restalled to a 3200-3600 as its not very street friendly in 4" of snow. I also just purchased a Detroit Truetrac with 4.10s that will be installed as opposed to my 3.73s and stock GM unit I was running. With all that said and done even though this truck will be around 500lbs more for race weight, im still gonna be shooting for 12s NA. Ill be sure to post more progress pics when i start making some… hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!

Nice lookin truck Bill… Ext Cab’s FTW

btw u get no help from JJ’s now cuz it wasnt posted on LSX…:tounge:

Glad you ditched the moldings and shit. It will look much better.

oh thats bs, i posted pics on LSx! remember you guys all made fun of me and said it looked like a grandpa truck lol

it is a long and painful process but well worth it lol. i will also be putting on a 01-02 Silverado HD hood, my 2003-2006 silverado tails and a rollpan but that should be about it for the exterior… aside from switching my wheels/tires to the stock alloy 16s with smaller tires cause for some reason it has 265/75/16s lol

EDIT: heres some video of the Sierra down in Baltimore, this was before the new converter/transmission… i believe this was my best run of the day and it was a 13.31

but u didnt make a thread in members project…

My 99 Silverado came from the factory with no moldings. Just a 1500 decal on the side, and Chevrolet banner across the tailgate. Haha

well would you look at that

get yourself a set of cal tracs, or talk to jay @ domination about his traction bars. 400 rwhp will put you into the 12s. mine made 398 rwhp, weighs 4700lbs & ran 12.67 @ 109mph.

Locker FTMFW

the long bars were mocked up on my Sierra lol. as for caltracs or long bars though this truck will be stock suspension… im sure suspension mods would help my times but im not really going for the best times anymore, this is gonna be my DD so its pretty much gonna stay stock suspension aside from the shackles. theres guys on PT cuttin 1.6-1.7 60s on just shackles and hangers.

if i remember correctly mine weighed 5200 but that was with me and the wife in it… 4 50lb bags of rocks, the spare, a rear bumper instead of glass rollpan and other things that wouldnt be in there going to the track. my track weight should be down around yours. as for the 400rwhp dunno if ill be there until i do my LS6 heads when i can come up with the money.

btw… Todd you have a fat ass truck hahaha, 4700 for a 88-98 rcsb!!

sweeeeet!

Pig Block.

nice

4720 lbs is factory curb weight, plus I have added weight, not reduced weight in my truck (stereo, etc). I have never gotten my truck weighed. This article has the curb weight, but I have GM specs with the same number.

Easy there Mr Fbucket. you can only call it a “pig block” if you have something faster, or your screen name is Pewter.

Family time!
