180/Silvia Truck Conversion.

I was just wondering if anyone that could point me in the direction of some information about people doing this. I has seen a couple clips and pictures of cars with this done but I am having a really hard time getting some good pictures of the inside of the box, and underside of the car. I am looking at possibly building one over the winter as a fun project. This is the best I have found so far.

A few years back i remember there begin an “S13 Truck” sponsered by APC for the beginnings of one of the drift league.

It just looks like standard car, choped the back and then building the box by covering the stock panels with diamond plate…

I love that K-style car … APC did a silvia if I remember correctly … and the announcers called it a Sil-Camino … damn hicks

Noooooooo Noooooo what a waste of a damn fine car!! :?

I think its pimp. Im thinking of doing it to a 180 I have with a 1J aswell. There is no specific way to do it. Just chop and weld till it looks right.

Well, I guess I will just have to start looking for a cheap car at auction. No need to bring in something thats in really good shape just to possibly wreck it. I figure if I just build a roll cage into the car and weld the cage to the B pillars and across the roof in the back. Attach the strut towers together with another section to tubing, maybe build a hoop that goes back and welds to the rear bumper supports that should be more then enuff to hold the car together. Maybe a nice push bar up front and some tubular bumpers in the back to make it more drift damage resistant  vertical exhaust with a tractor cap ?

yeah that was the team orange one …

alot of people on the net like Zilvia and NWN all talk about building one out of a junk 240sx but its more work than it seems . Need to build a rollbar in the back as well as some custom glass and framework to “truck” the rear end … I think it could be pretty sweet

Well I will start looking around for a car. If this does happen I will start a build log and keep you guys up to date for sure. I figure if I can find a old nissan pickup in the junk yard I will just cut the back window out of that with a sawsall.

I remember an old thread with pictures of a butchered 240sx that was never completed …alot of fab but it is soo pimp in the end as that Kstyle 180sx truck is one of my favorite s13s ever

Is there much of a differance in the B pillar between the hatch and coupe models ? I would assume the hatch one is stronger but its hard to tell for sure without seeing the two cars side by side with the interior panels removed.

there is quite a bit of difference between the two but of course bracing has to be made for both of these in order to complete it either way . The hatch has a longer quarter window and the coupe is alot shorter in that regard due to the trunk and has alot more structure in the rear which would make it a better idea and less fabricating

there would be more fabricating involved in the silvia verses the 180…way more material to cut out…the 180 would be the easiest chassis to start with…

So you could do it with a coupe as well?

Realistically considering that its custom fabrication it wouldn’t really matter what you started off with. Personally I think the silvia front end looks more truck esk. The seem to be easier to find with a SR20 aswell. Hopefully I will find something in the next month. Maybe some vertically mounted GTS-M skyline tail lights and a working tail gate… we will see how crazy I get once I have the car cut up.

I have seen a gts-t skyline truck conversion as well as it was in the same option video as this blue k-style 180sx …

please explain :
“The(silvia) seem to be easier to find with a SR20 aswell.”

yeaaa this will never happen BUT YEA GOOD LUCK BUDDY. HUGE PROPS AND RESPECTS GOES TO YOU FROM THE NISSAN ENTHUSIASTS CAR CLUB.

Do you want to place a wager on the fact it will not happen ? I could really care less about what you have to say. But I am sure.

You don’t speek for this club. Trust me.

Just looking threw the JDM auction listings there seem to be more of them… Maybe its just that time of the month or something  I am pretty much set of a silvia anyway now. Just from a looks standpoint.

seeing as u would have to fuse the quarter panels in alot more on the coupe, than on the hatch back…the silvia will be way more work…just stop and think about it for a second…the 180 u just take out the glass weld a hoop to support the roof structure and to brace the side structure and start cutting…after u take the hatch off theres only the sides to cut out…way easier…and if u liek the silvia front end( witch i myself do)…u dont need to start off with a silvia…lol u can swap front ends as it will take a guy a matter of two-3 hrs… and i hate when ppl refer to sr20’s as silvia motors or anything in that direction 180s are alot more common than silvias…

It was just a observation as far as the engines are concerned… If you look at uss autoauction right now everything seems to be listed as a 2L.
