LT1 in my Isuzu, GM help!

Heres the scoop on my delema. I have a 91’ Isuzu Amigo that I already swapped a GM 3.1 motor and 5spd trans in. The truck now has a rod knock. I can pickup a LT1 for a decent price complete with a entire harness and ecm off my buddy. The trucks 4wd and I would like to keep it that way. Would the LT1 bolt right up to the 3.1 trans? Or will I need a different trans to fit into the truck? I am not worried about the rest. I just want to get the drivetran part done.

You do some pretty bitchin’ projects.

Always keepin busy :ninja

It wont bolt to the tranny- different bellhousing. The 3.1 is a 60* motor and the LT1 is a 90* motor. Even if it did the v6 tranny wouldnt be able to handle the torque of the v8.
Id look for another 3.1 or a 3.4 out of a Camaro. A 3.4 is just a bigger 3.1 which is a bigger 2.8 and it will bolt up to the same tranny.
It would be like swapping a 305 out for a 350.

That’s what I thought. Just wanted to make sure before I picked up the LT1.

look for a 3.8 lt :nod same bell as 3.1 and so on and bulletproof motor

Those came in the early camaro’s correct?

95-up camaro,s

if ya wanna do a lt1 in it get a th350 tranny and t/case and do it

Yea just found one with the t-case for around $400. Just debating how much of a bitch it will be to fit in. The truck originally came with a 2.6L 4cyl, lol.

prolly have to fab mounts tranny crossmember and drive shafts

Is the LT1 fuel injected? If so, send it my way, im lookin for an LT1 to swap into my S14 ;D Ive done an LT1 swap in a 89 S10 ive got, so itll be straight foward swapping one into my S14… Just gonna have to fabricate engine and trans mounts and get a drive shaft made… but yeah im looking for an LT1

i have one at the machine shop needs redoin and pcm but all there

the lt1 will not bolt up to that 3.1 trans, even if you got the right bellhousing it still wouldnt last to long, i would get a 700r4 trans for it, there cheap as fuck and they’ll bol right up

I have a complete engine just no ecu wiring harness etc etc

do a 5.3 vortech. Cheaper, same swap and more power. You can pick up a low milaege 5.3 (20-40k) for around $500-700 and the T56 will bolt right up…and all LSx parts are interchangeable with it. Get the best of best worlds.

check out the Hybrid section on ls1tech. Theirs a shit load of guys that have done the 5.3 and LS1 swaps into S14’s. Just gonna hafto search a little to dig them up

IMO you cant beat it…this shop made 326rwhp on a 5.3 with a stock C6 Z06 cam…theirs aggressive cammed LT1’s out there not even making those numbers
