I wish he would just get it over with and get himself a TH400 or find someone that knows how to really build a 4L60/65/80e
level 10 seems to not cooperate with his requests. and then they change the warranty policy on it. and set some crazy boundaries on it, low boost, low shift points… where they know the range he requested and how he expects it to perform.

Here’s the deal… I am not an idiot… I know full well a 4l60 will not last. I went to Level 10, after 5 4l60’s. Level Ten owner, Pat Barrett sat in his office, an office full of awards, magazine covers and trophies, all with Level Ten magical praise plastered all over…
He said they have the 4l60 figured out. That they can make the tranny take 800-1000 hp. I asked for the 4l80, he argued with me for 20 minutes how the weight and gearing of the 4l80 would slow me down 2-4 tenths.
Then he said he would support me and give me a one year unlimited warranty… and would work side by side to make things work right.
There is a terrible and long bullshit story that followed, and someday it may make for a nice short movie, but the bottom line is I spent 5k for a 2k tranny, willingly, knowing and expecting to break it.
The tranny broke on the dyno a month ago, have only run a few full passes on the street, with limited traction.
As I told everyone, I know the track would break it…since I didn’t get there on tranny #1, I made sure to get there immediately with tranny number two.
I made it through the burnout… rolled into 1st , began to full accelerate in mid 2nd and “bang” went something when 3rd was about to come in. It was hooking and I was gonna go for a hell of a ride, and I don’t say that often, but I could tell, traction was more than I ever had on the street. Sounded like a hammer hit me floorboard, no idea why.
I have Eddie with the S-10 pick my car up from level ten… at which time they chose to write on the invoice that my warranty was a “good will” and further that I must “POWER DOWN” the car, and not shift above 5800 rpm. What happen to 800-1000 hp? We shall find out. I am recording the phone call… for youtube, more on that later.
So, apparently, according to the receipt, I will not be covered for a rebuild (amen, I will not do a 4l60 again). So , I have paid 5k for a pair of trannys, a month without the car, a bag of lies, big lies (more on this later) and 600 miles worth of driving.
People wonder why I didn’t run at the track or race or get on it allot…well, because I knew the fate, and tried to time it appropriately… that, in and of itself is bullshit. For 5k, i should have been thrashing daily.
Theres the deal, that’s why I don’t have a 400 or 4l80 Mr Daniels, and that’s 1/4 of the story that will unfold like a Level Ten Bash Book, live for all to hear, if they decide to play hard.
I will plead to use all you members to phone/web blast their ass if they are unreasonable. Nothing yet, I’ll keep things updated (perhaps a thread split!)

yah…and I havent missed a gear in months…and it was about 4 months ago since I have owned the car.
I watched dave miss 3rd atleast 3 times before I left (once was 2 times, in one run)

go with a permabuilt trans, i dont think there is anyone out there that can truely make a 4l60e stand the test of time
I would prob do a BUILT TO THE WALL 4l80e, its nice to have o/d in a street car, hence there not being a glide or th400 in it. But a TH400 with a gear vendors o/d kit would sick!!!
I hit my goal for the season! im going to E-Town this weekend for the Evo/Sti shootout and gonna mop up some sti’s in the stock appearing turbo class…Heads up PRO TREE which should be interesting.
