March 15 - Thompson Motor Speedway New Layout Facility Tour + Seminars

Forgot to post this.

TTD is hosting a facility tour for the redesigned Thompson Track in CT coming this March. The facility tour is free for those who want to check out the track and facility. They are also hosting some paid riding seminars (update: already sold out) if you are are interested.

See below for details. Thompson is about 140 miles from Albany.

Thompson Speedway

On Saturday, March 15, we are hosting a meeting and seminar at the new track in Thompson, CT - the Thompson Motor Speedway.

This will be open to everyone, but registration is required so we can prepare the facility.

FORMAT:

Arrival time will be 9:30am. Presentations and track walk will start at 10am sharp.

If you have never done a trackday before, we’ll have a presentation on what you can expect at your first day (regardless of which track you attend).

For trackday regulars that just want to learn about the CT facility, there will be a presentation geared towards you too!

Weather permitting, everyone will have the opportunity to tour the track.

And now for the best part… everything above is FREE (you just have to register on the TTD website).

The items above will all wrap up by Lunch time.

LUNCH:

The track will be hosting a luncheon and we encourage everyone to join us for that. The cost for lunch - including tax and tip - is just $15. The track is working out the menu items now and that will be posted on the website soon.

HOW TO RIDE BETTER Seminar:

After Lunch, our own Ken Condon will be doing a Traction Management Seminar. If you think about it, whether you are braking, accelerating, or cornering - it all comes down to how you manage the available traction. Bring your notepads and questions as this seminar will be full of valuable info. Price for the seminar is just $25.

For more information and to register for any portion of this day, please visit the TTD website.

thought they weren’t hosting bike?

Not that I know of, all the Thompson news I got from bike forums and various clubs; seems like they redesign the road course with bikes in mind from the get go.

good to know

Just tested the track out this past weekend. We did the 1.7 miles full course, track flows really well and it was really fun. Great facility literally brand new garages and on track club house with restaurant.

Parking is not great but miles ahead of NYST. Track itself is really designed for cars, some sections have literally no runoffs so there are certain spots that are kind of iffy for bikes. For trackdays it is fine, but no way in hell they will ever race bikes there. Track is relatively close to Albany, about 2.5 hours. You can tent camp on the track in designated areas, but no power. Power is only available in garages, $25/day garage rental for bikes (not sure about cars).

Some garage shots and track shots:

the garage reminds me of NJMP a little bit. looks sick.
