It’s basically a toss up between Dunnville and Shannonville so all those who would be willing to participate vote for your preferred location.

The RR S14.5, the completed mrskny S14 (KAT in the works) will be present along with a special unveiling of our 3rd RR project car… the RBZ build (more details to come); definitely something you guys won’t want to miss.

Tentative date is Saturday June 30th, 2007.
We just wanted to get this out there early on so we can gauge how many ppl will be interested.

It will be at either Shannonville Fabi Track (9am-5pm) or Dunnville (8am - 4pm)
Price $140 for 36 people preregistered, or $160 at the track.

That’s for a full 8 hours of track time so if you come early or stay late I’m sure you will have a lot more than the alotted time as people leave etc.

We will do our best to keep the drifters on the track together and the grippers on the track together so that no one infringes on anyone else’s fun.

It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come out and meet one n other and give the official season a nice kick start.

We will also be holding a parts swap and pick up for any one wanting to purchase parts or resell their used items.

Race Ready will most likely have a large supply of aftermarket performance parts on hand for sale at blow out prices.

No Helmet? No problem!

Helmets are required, but if you don’t have a helmet we will have a few to rent at the track.

So let’s get this show on the road and have a list of interested people:

36

20 minutes per hour?

What’s the dilli, yo?

that is balls. you’re sitting with your thumb up your ass for 2/3 of the day…

Let it be known that the track that would be used if we do Shannonville would be the FABI track.

Hopefully, i may also get a close friend who spins for Defcon Remix to come and get some music going (just an idea). Spaces are limited to a maximum capacity of 36 cars so sign up quick. If there are any special inquires or good ideas that would make this event memorable and enjoyable, please let us know so we can try to accomodate your ideas.

We have much time to plan this, but we will need YOUR cooperation to make this track day a good one.

I would say people would get atleast around 4-5hrs of pure driving. You also have to account the time for eating lunch, chatting with people, tire changes (that takes at least 30min for all 4 tires if your fast. i take maybe 7-10min taking a tire off and putting it back on with hand tools.), gasing up, cooldowns etc etc.

You have to think about other factors. I estimate that at least 50-75%will be drifters.

I would say leaving 2hrs of changing tires is already not enough. 2hrs worth of time could change maybe 2-3 sets if you actually hurried (those who change tires often would understand how long this actually takes). Then you have to have cool downs if you want your tires to last. Thats like a 5-10min cool down for every 20min of hard driving. Then how about resting? chatting with friends? eating? gasing up? that all adds up and could easily be 4hrs of not driving at all.

Having 4-5hrs of pure driving is very reasonable in a span of 8hrs. I don’t even think people will have enough tires to drift for 4-5hrs straight. I’m sure Vlad or David can comment on this since they went to the driftops event that lasted 8hrs. I believe Vlad left early since he ran out of tires. You also have to take into consideration for the people who won’t run for that long.

I’m not sure what this 4-5 hours of total driving is. At only 20 minutes per hour of driving that equals 160 minutes of driving in total which he specifically said in his post. 160 minutes of driving = 2.66 hours, not 4-5 hours

They are limiting you to 160 minutes of driving over the period of an 8 hour track day. So maybe you’re not sitting with your thumb up your ass for 2/3 of the day like I said because you make some good points - changing tires, etc. According to your numbers its more like driving 1/3 day, changing tires/chatting 1/3 day, thumb up ass 1/3 day

Regardless of anything, being limited to driving for only 20 minutes per hour is no fun for grip.

If you would prefer to pay $80 and have like 3 hours track time for 35 cars which is how other people have done their track days, I guarantee that everyone isn’t on the track at the same time.

So by your math, that would mean 3 hour drive to shannonville, 1 - 1.5 hours of track time, 3 hour drive back.

Anyone who comes early, or stays till the end will be able to make the most of the track day.

If all the spots are not filled, that will also mean more track time for everyone else.

I think that the 3 hour drive is more worth it with the potential for 4/5 hours of track time, and a full track day which is why we set it up how we did.

If you decide to come out, I’m quite sure you won’t be bored as there will be other activities going on at the track that day as well.

If you have any other concerns, please bring it up via PM.

I could always bring the dyno for something else to do??

the reason why i said 4-5hrs is because after 1-2hrs people will start taking breaks, and probably near the end of the day, people will run out of tires, allowing people to run longer. and also, that 20min an hour is the WORSE case scenario. thats if we keep 12 cars on the track at once. if we put more, theres obviously more time to run.

i think people will get a good 4hrs of track time, if they have sufficient tires and if the cars can take that long of a beating. the world isn’t perfect and i’m sure not all 36 cars will bring 4 or 5 sets of tires or if even everyone will stay the whole 8hrs.

John, you should come out with ur project car and test it out. Nothing is better than personal experience!

not to cause a stir, because i think this is what the “club” needs. But i’d rather spend $50-60 and go to dunville with Derek for 4-5 hours with 20 people, than spend what you’re asking.

hope it goes well for you boys.

Grip + Drift in on the same track at the same time is NEVER a good idea.

Separate it into two different days, trust me…

We will have the Grip guys and the Drift guys on the track at seperate times.

As it stands though, it’s looking like mostly drifters signing up, we’ll be playing it by ear as the date comes closer though.

Lucky, we aren’t trying to compete with Derek, we’re just putting on a track day for people to meet up and have a good time.
