My wife’s 2007 Mazda 3 is making a thunk sound. It only happened the first time the car is turned on and it reaches about 15 mph. If the car needs to be back out of the drive way it doesn’t happen until the car is but into drive. It didn’t happen when we first purchased but sometime after. My wife has taken it to the Mazda dealer twice now and they haven’t been able to find what is making the noise. Any ideas?
upper strut mounts or sway bar end links if i remmeber correctly…its been a while
Ok, it only happens when the car is cold. The initial driving, it wont do it at a red light. IO thought it funny that the guys at Mazda couldn’t figure it out. Its under warrenty and its documented so, if it becomes worse we’re covered. I just wanted to know what it could be.
it only happens when your speeding up or slowing down at 15mph?
speeding to about 15-20 mph
That year mazda 3’s had a number of “klunk” issues, there is a kit that we have to install it consists of front lower control arms (diff. design bushings), front and rear sway bar bushings and the issue was the pass. side motor mount, they redesigned that also
x2
my neon used to SNAP THE FUCK back when i put it in reverse, went through three mounts even though each one was fine, finally i just filled one in with window urethane and VOILA!
obviously this would void a warranty but get a sturdier mount
if the cars an AUTO order up a mount offa a MTX, the rubber is usually stiffer
Its a 2007 Mazda3.
same thing happened with my 03 civic.
on the rear side though…honda peeps figured it out as something with the end link…
