Mazda 3 vibrates when in reverse.

Well today I got in my wifes car to go to the bank and when I put the car in reverse it began to vibrate pretty bad. It feels similar to sitting on a massage chair. It still moves in reverse. In drive, park and neutral its normal.

Its an 07 with under 16k on it.

Two questions I have:

  1. What would cause reverse to do this?

  2. Would something like this typically be covered under warranty?

Google:tup:

Good Luck bud!

there is your free message chair mod… j/k

not sure where your wife bought the mazda, because i havent had any good experience with the town mazda on sheridan. just saying

Surprisingly this thread started off looking very helpful then quickly turned to shit.

So again, any thoughts?

hmmm…google other sites? pm carnut

Sounds like the same thing that happened to my laser. Sad thing is it eventually went away just before I had sold it. But Yea Carnut or any one associated with Tech.

didn’t these have motor mount issues?

^ thats what i was gonna say maybe ur motor mounts are turning to shit…have ur wife throw it in revo and take a peak under the hood…its auto im assuming?

Yeah its an auto, but if it were a motor mount wouldn’t it shake in every gear not just reverse?

PS: If every time someone has a question in the tech forum they are told to go to google then what the fuck is the point of having a tech forum?

because it could be one mount that is very stressed when the engine torque is applied to it in reverse. Thus making it a more relaxed mount when going forward. If it vibrates that bad in reverse in idle, you either have a transmission issue or a mount issue.

Apparently it was ice buildup by the AC compressor that was putting added weight on the transmission? :gotme:

All I know is that the vibration is gone.

atleast u figured it out

yeah i was going to say ice/slush buildup somewhere. If it gets in the wheelwells, its a bitch.

Is it under the 3year 36k? Take it in. No repair facility can repair a vehicle without you giving the ok. If it’s not covered spend the money to have it diagnosed. You will never fix a problem by listening to suggestions. Edit saw the reply. Glad to hear it is fixed. The cobalt is going to the dealer tomorrow

This was after we sent it in. When they couldn’t find any vibration they came to the conclusion that ice buildup was probably the cause. It did happen on saturday, after the storm.

well good to hear

Did they charge you anything or did they do the right thing and replace it under warranty?
