If this is not the correct section to post sorry, i did not know what to put this in.
So my mazda 6s has the 6disc bose system. I know mazda sells straight form the dealer a mini disc player that fits into the stock head unit. I have been searching to see if this is compatible with a bose stereo but I am still unsure.
I know with bose, unless its bose, pretty much it wont work. lol thats the shitty part about that company. I know their is an ipod adaptor that they sell as well that you plug into the back of the stock head unit which you can control using the headunit. From what I am seeing again, this is not compatible with bose.
so the question, does mazda sell an adaptor for an ipod hookup for a mazda bose cd player, also do they sell a mini disc insert for the bose head unit. the face plate is still the same.
picture of the face plate not from my car, but the same style
as you can see in the middle of the face plate there is a spot that is empty but can be removed to place a tape player, mini disc, etc.
I can’t offer much specific advice, but my mazda’s bose system was compatible with my D3 (pioneer). There’s a directory of what headunit will fit into your car, I think that’d be a good place to start. A place like custom radio or any car audio place can tell you a lot more.
just went to that forum, I am not use to their setup on the forum, the search sucks, and well this will take some time. lol I’m probably just going to call the dealer and find out. thats if the parts person knows anything.
You have to search. I don’t have the Bose but I have the 6 disc changer in my 3 and there is a adapter for about $149 that allows you to control your iPod/iPhone from the audio controls on the stereo/steering wheel.
I am pretty sure they support all OEM stereos so I would imagine they support yours too.
I remember when I owned my 6S that there was the audiolink which plugged into the back of the Bose system.
I had the same 6-disc system you have and there is an adapter. When I wanted to buy it they weren’t making them anymore, but I am sure they are for sale on the Mazda6club forums.
the guy at the dealer is looking into it, gave him the vin and he said he was contacting mazda directly to find out what i can buy for mini disc or ipod.
and yes, i love the mini disc’s. i accidentally washed 2 of the discs, they still play, never scratch or skip, and is far less money than an ipod, and sounds just as good. plus there is not copy right bullshit, you can go from computer to computer and upload music on to a disc unlike an ipod where you can only use one computer unless you have the software to bypass it.
Those things were fucking awesome when I was in highschool if you bought the actual digital recording edition that didn’t require you to play the song and record it like a cassette tape.
I loved it until I got this:
And ya. This is the first time I have actually seen the MD player in a car. My stereo has the button for it but I didn’t know people still used them in 2005.
