Uninsured Americans and those in a government health program for the poor are far more likely to have advanced diseases when diagnosed with cancer than those with private coverage, researchers said on Sunday.
Is it just me, or does it read that way?
I read that to mean that those without coverage or with governmentally regulated coverage don’t go to the doctor until they’re really sick.
Sho 'nuff. Second paragraph reads:
A major factor seems to be that many of these people are not getting routine screenings for various types of cancer that could detect the disease in its early stages when it is most treatable and least deadly, according to the researchers.
What is your definition of stupid? Is someone who is not book smart stupid?
Granted the lower class are less likely to get any type of health care because they cant afford it. I wouldn’t necessarily generalize them as stupid. Money doesn’t make you smart.
Its sad that people are dying of disease/illness that could have been treated early on. Maybe someday things will change and everyone will matter, not just people with money.
I know some people that are VERY smart and don’t have much money. They have just had band things happen in their lives that have caused them to lose their job, or have lost their house due to a fire or flood etc. Does the fact that they are now hard on their luck make them any less intelligent? no. Just because one is not wealthy, that does not mean that they aren’t smart. Some people just have bad things happen to them which hinder their ability to get ahead. Case in point, a friend of the family was an emergency room Dr and was in a car accident and because of her injuries she could no longer perform in the medical field. Does this make her stupid? no. When you are in your 50s and you have an accedent like that, it is VERY difficult to change careers and retrain yourself in a new field. people do not want to invest money and time into someone that will retire in 10 years.
