pacman jones was suspended before he was proven guilty
[/quote]
yeah, but there were witnesses at the club shooting, multiple arrests and violations that got him suspended.
i really hope they throw a bunch of these people in jail, pacman, vick, even the likes of other celebs like lohan, and hilton, im tired of seeing people who are above the law cause they have money
sports players used to be role models, now theyre role models in a different way, showing they can come out of a bad life, make it big, and do whatever they want cause they have money and popularity… makes me sick
i love what charles barkley said bout it a long time ago
“I don’t believe professional athletes should be role models. I believe parents should be role models… It’s not like it was when I was growing up. My mom and my grandmother told me how it was going to be. If I didn’t like it, they said, “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.” Parents have to take better control.”
I’m actually in agreement with newman here. I’m a Falcons fan. Always have been so maybe i’m biased. But seriously…they are dogs. I mean yea its horrible and inhumane. but so is fighting a stupid war overseas that has no purpose. We should try sitting our pres. out for a season.

PETA will hang you guys too
It is funny that people are getting all riled up about dogs, yet more serious stuff involving HUMANS doesn’t seem to garner the same attention or reaction.
The star quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, who is black, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in U.S. District court in Richmond, Virginia, on charges of sponsoring, along with three others, a brutal dogfighting ring on property he owns in Smithfield, site of their Bad Newz Kennels.

the entire article constantly goes back to premise that this is a “Black” thing and that it comes from a hip-hop image. They go on to note other “Black” people who have things to say about the crimes.
i think ur an idiot for taking that out of context

Wow pretty harsh words…
Answer me this then… What does black have to do with anything?
People care more about issues they feel they have some chance of effecting change on. This dog fighting thing with Vick will bring about change, because the public is behind it. It brings it more into the spotlight, which will bring up enforcement, and probably even result in the government getting involved and penalties being increased.
There is no “fix” for starving children in third world countries. You can dump money on the problem and try to feed them, but it doesn’t resolve the issue. All that does is create more healthy children to have children they can’t support. The only real solution is to get them to stop having kids that they can’t support. And people know that’s never going to happen, so they simply block the problem from their minds. It’s sad, but the saying, “you can only help those who help themselves” is very true.
As for the whole black/white thing, I seriously doubt if you go to a dog fight that there are only black people there. But what they’re saying is that the hardcode rap culture, which is almost exclusively black, is the only culture to openly promote dog fighting as an acceptable activity. That’s all the article was pointing out, and pointing that out is not racist. A true fact cannot be racist, it can only be a fact.

did u even read the article??
The whole article was based on the premise that hip-hop is promoting pit-bulls as mean, harsh, fighting dogs and that the UKC says the exact opposite about the breed. It is saying that Black people are into dog fighting because hip-hop is promoting it and influencing it. So they are saying that michael vick is black.
“It’s all tied into the hip hop culture, the image and projection of a dog as an extension of your manhood,” she says.
“Hip-hop culture put Vick in this bind,” declared the headline on a recent column in The Kansas City Star. Staff columnist Jason Whitlock, who is black, said he hoped Vick’s troubles would “serve as yet another wakeup call for black athletes to reject the hip-hop/prison culture that glorifies much of the negative behavior and attitude that has eroded the once-dignified and positive reputation of black athletes.”
they mentioned that he was black too. AND, that he hopes this will serve as a wake-up call.
They didnt just toss in that he was black for no reason, it actually pertains to the article.

Well black and starting quarterback for an NFL team aren’t two words people who aren’t familiar with the sport associate with each other. Story are written with the premise that the person reading it has no knowledge of anything at all. So they are just trying to help those who know nothing to fully grasp all the facts of the story…also they are trying to sell the story and whats sells better than a race disscussion

Eh, not so much anymore - Culpepper, Cunningham, Moon, Stewart, McNair, Brooks, Batch, etc., all the way back to Harris (?) There’s quite a few nowadays. I think Cunningham’s got a ring too.
IIRC Vick was the first black QB to go 1st overall in the draft.
