MIT: Carbon Dioxide Irrelevant to Climate Change [now the Climategate thread]

I wouldn’t say its laughable considering some of the shit we have done to this planet, but just blown out of proportion and the general public is not educated in the subject, so they go along with it.

OT- I know me and Onyx have degrees (well I get mine end of next may) in enviornmental/earth sciences. Anyone else with something similar?

I’d hate to say I told ya so but…

Pollution is a huge problem. Don’t get me wrong. But it is not causing global warming. When a volcano spews co2 and ash into the atmosphere, it does more damage than humans can in 100 years. When a major eruption happens, it throws off the GLOBAL climate. Then it rights itself again. Human activity may contribute a tad, but it is not the cause of global warming by any means. But hey I’m not a scientist so what do I know :gotme:. I’m just a dumb uneducated redneck conservative.

I always found this interesting for you gore sac riders…

Not to mention that we all get blamed for driving cars that produce c02 emisions but noone ever talkes about the military dumping depleted uranium all over iraq, or how about nasa! do you know how much pollution pours out the back of those saturn blasters every time a rocket lifts off! its insane. But they will never take the blame for what they do, its always somehow our fault.

The thing is. The Earth is a living thing. Think of it as one giant organism and everything on it are like the different micro-organisms in our own bodies. we have an effect on the planet, but it is a constantly changing thing. It goes through cycles and for everything that happens, there is a reaction that will, eventualy, right itself. As long as we try to keep ourselves in check, and not totaly fuck up the environment…it will fix itself. Look at the history of the planet that we know of. There have been years of heat spells, and ice ages. And ya know what… the plannet STILL supports life.

Another example. Look at wild fires. They devistate everything in their path, but from the ashes of the aftermath, comes new life. Life that would not be able to happen if it weren’t for said the fire. And guess what…not every forrest fire is caused by a neglectful human leaving a camp fire going. Things happen naturaly. and they fix themselves. It just takes time. I’m not saying that we are not having a negative effect on the planet with all the pollution and whatnot…im just saying that when you look at the whole picture…we are really not having that massive of an impact.

I got one word for ya, solar storms. Coming soon to a planet near you. Better yet wait until planet X cruises by, Al Gore’s global warming scam will seem like a picnic.
BWAAAAAHHHAAAAAHHHH!

Its ok, when the ocean level rises and tsunamis are engolfing the world, we will pay the chinese billions of dollars to build “Arks” that will carry us to Africa so we can rebuild civilization.

This isn’t about Al Gore or pollution in general; only about Carbon Dioxide.

There are other green house gasses and pollutants that humans release into the atmosphere. But since Carbon Dioxide is released in a large quantity by everything from the cars we drive to the simple action of breathing, showing that the planet is in equilibrium and tends to stay that way when Carbon Dioxide increases is a big deal.

Unless we have a thread full of seasoned researchers in the field, it is still just hear-say.

I avoided commenting on this thread because I had an idea how it would go.

The people willing to think and read about real science would be interested, and the sheep would say, “well this is just another opinion” failing to realize this is one of the only studies based on real science not computer models.

It’s still not worth it for companies to start capturing all their CO2 emissions.
The technology is still too expensive. Maybe in another 10 years the cost will come down.

you are so smart!

al gore bought carbon offsets from a company he himself owns

^Bingo. Welcome to the next gigantic financial scam.

That is exactly what this does for me.

It reaffirms that you cannot believe anything you hear on the news. However, you can also not automatically trust this case either… which means since you cant trust either side, chose neither.

I will be referring to this thread in the future for that petition link sir. Thank you

This is one of those topics where people take the ass-backwards route of deciding what they believe, THEN looking only at the evidence that support their side. Both sides are guilty of it.

Thank God it is a moot topic.

True story.

I’m just all for not shitting on everything around me. It doesn’t take much to not pollute. CO2 stuff is a little different, and I certainly haven’t been able make any impact in my daily life. But pollution in general is nothing but negative. When people see things like this, they start to believe the the planet will take anything you throw at it and do things other than CO2 related shit that really will affect us.

Yeah that whole carbon offset thing is retarded. How does paying for the carbon emissions your company spews out help in any way shape or form?

I laughed a little at this lol.

I thought there were many more reputable studies concluding this for a while now, but at the least, I hope this puts more of the socialwarming theories down. Either way, as said before, pollution is never a good thing. Knowing that, I do think we have made great strides in the last 40 years knowing its not actually gonna lead to our demise.
