MMA, Boxing to cross paths in near future?

I, for one, as a HUGE fan of both boxing and MMA would find this to be very cool. Especially as MMA and boxing often find themselves in the “which is better” topic and this could give hardcore fans of both an up close look at the other to better appreciate it’s intricacies. Thoughts from everyone?

Yer ghey?

That’s cool though… if you’re into that kind of thing…

I don’t think they should interfere. I’m a big fan of both boxing and MMA too. I still like to watch straight up boxing.

I prefer boxing but they will cross. Too much money involved.

in the crowd watching is a good place for you to be. seriously. :ohnoes

leave them seperate…thats why theres MMA and Boxing

When your drunk out of your mind and don’t see a punch coming doesn’t constitute as a fight in my book. I was completely caught off guard. Had it been I was not completely shit faced, i’m most certain it would have been a much very different outcome for me that night.

what about the other times youve been knocked cold… just saying… :banana

:ohsnap

LOL with the smilies comon !

anyways MMA is awesome, boxing is ALRIGHT i used to be way more into it back in the 90’s and early 2000-2002 now i kinda dont care anymore,

UFC/MMA whatever it is FTW

kimbo and brock should fightttttttttt

i havent been into boxing in a long time, I just started watching MMA ab out 4 months ago, i love it

The ONE other time that happened over 2 years ago? Get your facts straight before you try making an ass of me over a public forum. Thanks.

Where is Kimbo’s credibility? He has none. I personally don’t think Kimbo is a good fighter. He’s just a backyard street fighter.

yes!

Kimbo has potential, but he hasn’t faught any good fighters. So it’s impossible to really tell how much MMA skill he has. I was a fan of his, but he keeps fighting these losers that no one cares about and I’m losing interest in him fast. I’m sure EliteXC is to blame and not him, but his appeal is dying cause of it.

Brock is the man.

Brock=years and years of wrestling background
Kimbo=little bit of football in high school and some street fights

Would you throw Kimbo into the right with a top tier fighter in one of his first 5 professional fights with NO real experience? EliteXC isn’t as big as the UFC yet and is afraid to simply throw one of its high named fighters to the wolves. They’re building him up slowly. You can’t blame them for that, and it’s not Kimbo’s choice who he fights…all he can do is show up and perform to the best of his ability. The good news? He’s won all his fights so far, so he has to be at least some what worth a damn.

Also - lets try to stay on topic. Do you think boxing and MMA togther on the same card? Yes/No and why?

kimbo has actual fight experience and we all know he knows how to throw a punch
brock is a college wrestling champ and former WWE heavyweight champ (ohh ahhhh)

They are both in the same situation coming into MMA, but on opposite sides.

I think both of there appoaches to the sport are dumb.
-I give tons of respect for Brock wanting to come in and fight the best right away. That ballsy as hell. It could have been drastic if he lost his last fight, but thankfully he didn’t and proved himself. This approach is way too risky and I’m surprised UFC let that happen.
-Kimbo started off slow, as he should have, but he is still fighting these starter fights and it’s getting old.

complete opposite in every way.

no! MMA is too fast paced and it will not mix well with boxing

No. Boxing should stay true to what it is and MMA should stay out of the boxing realm. I got to watch a lot of great fights in the early 90’s. I can’t say i’ve really seen any spectacular fights over the past 8 years and i’m sure the rest of you can agree on that.

Who do you think in the boxing world could make a good transition into the MMA world? I remember a few years back there was talk about Mike Tyson becoming a Pride fighter. That would be interesting to see that animal in the ring and off his meds. He sure as hell doesn’t have the fire power he did 15 years ago but it would still make for atleast one decent showcase.

Good post! :thumb

I guess you missed the Taylor/Hopkins and Taylor/Pavlik fights…Kelly Pavlik is the hottest thing to find the boxing world in a while. Unbelievable action fighter who has the heart of a true champion…and he’s a white kid from a podunk town in Ohio! I love/loved Mayweather Jr. also…probably the best ‘boxer’ I’ve ever seen. Period.
