how does this not have to do with women’s rights? You make a thread about how the next mod should be a woman. You havent given any reason as to why other then “i know a girl or two who would do good”.

No? I was completely supporting you in that if a female is capable of doing the job, then she will be chosen. They aren’t looking for someone right now.
The problem with this thread is direction.
As most of us have said, there isn’t a problem with having a girl as a moderator IF she is in fact qualifed to do so. However your post is confusing Andrea. Right now, the way that it’s worded it sounds like you want the mods to consider a girl regardless of whoever else is qualified. Affirmative action = the lose. Diversity might be nice, but what for really? I honestly don’t think it’s going to change anything esp with all the other mods being guys…not to say that even has anything to do with the way things are run here.
Probably a better idea for the thread would be to actually make nominations of who you had in mind. At least then you can make a case for that person instead of their gender :tup:
Normally I’m not one for bandwagons of a semi-serious nature. But it makes a lot of sense. But even then as it stands at the moment everything seems to be good. Later on down the road this forum will expand a ton more. Some will leave, most will stay. Eventaully more will be needed as the forum expands. But as of right now, it appears to be at a comfortable level.
Even when that choice is made it shouldn’t be based on gender alone. There would be many things keep in mind this is a more generalized list based on my prior experience but it seems to apply.
-Does the situation warrant it. (Too many people to control or keep track of, too many admins making it appear more imposing and increasing likelyhood of a disagreement)
-Have the general interest of the forum at heart.
-Being able to work as a team (If you can’t agree on anything nothing gets done)
-Not being a postwhore (ex. replying to anything and everything/OT included)
-Not asking for it (Again this isn’t something that applies here necessarliry)
-Not treating others like shit
-Be a respected member of the community
-Be around for awhile
-A calm demeanor. (ex. won’t fly off the handle and ban someone/lock a thread due to personal opinion alone on issues like religion, rasism, beliefs, or in this case gender)
It’s kinda sad to see all the jokes in this one. I’d imagine it would be quite offensive to her as it’s mostly just 2/3 pages of nothing but kitchen jokes directed at her, mainly when she posed a serious question when a simple no with an explaination of your opinions would have been more in place. :tdown:
But given the current situation of the forum everything appears to be matched up well at the moment from what it appears from a lower standpoint. And I honestly don’t believe any more or less are needed at this point. That may change, but then again this post is based purely on opinion so what do I know. 
When she originally posed the question to me, I asked her what a girl would offer that a guy wouldn’t and she responded with, “they think differently…” and that was pretty much the gist of it. I am in complete agreement with Jon in that the most qualified should be doing the job… She keeps getting baited by you guys poking fun at this and then getting irked… I think it’s funny…

there are too many posts to quote so i will just sum it all up:
first of all I don’t want to mention the person’s name I have in mind because from what has been posted has been disrespectful enough…why wouldn’t you do just the same to her if i mention her name. I’d rather not have the drama unless a position comes up where the current Mods are in need of another one…some of the Mods already know who it is and they can do what they want with my suggestion.
secondly… there are a few of you who are saying “whoever is better qualified” I TOTALLY agree with that. But the majority are saying: Girls aren’t qualified…i’m sure there are a lot that aren’t like Newman;) but all i’m saying is don’t rule out a girl just because it is a girl. It is a fact that Girls and Guys think differently…that was my whole point in making this thread. again…I just thought a little diversity for the “behind the scenes” might do NYSpeed a little good if a position arises. thank you to all who actually had something relevant to add to this thread.
