monroe at n. french / transit = bunch of fawktards

If you need to have any work done, don’t go to the monroe on north french by transit. My dad is going to michigan this week and needed an oil change so he made an appointment for this afternoon earlier today as he didn’t want to bug me since im swamped with work right now. After waiting over an hour they finally start working on his car and THEN realize they don’t have a filter for his car('92 325i). They claim the computer had the wrong one listed(he had an oil change done there before and there was no issue of having a wrong filter listed). How the hell can you run a business like that where you make a customer wait over an hour for an oil change just to tell him you don’t have the right oil filter?

Soooo he brought his car home and now im doing the oil change.

Fucking morons. They should all be fired.

i agree! i went in for a inspection and 600$ and three days later i still have no truck but i didn’t go to the same place just venting

… And why are you not sending him to an NYSpeed vendor?

I once scheduled replacement of a rear split window latch for my work truck…2 weeks in advance. When I got there, they didn’t have it in stock and I had to come back. # 1: You would think if you’re going to schedule service, you should make sure you order the parts if you need to. # 2: I guess the $ 2.99 cost associated with floating that kind of inventory could create unneccessary financial strain on one of Western New York’s largest dealerships. Welcome to W*** H*** NY!

Usually I do all the work on his car for him. When he takes it somewhere to have the work done he usually doesn’t listen to me on where to go.

Are there even any vendors located near Pendleton that wouldn’t be a 20+ minute drive for an oil change? lol

My drive from Lockport to my shop is about 20 minutes. hmmmmmm…

Never go to a shop like that for an inspection, unless you have a brand new-ish car, or know someone working there. It’s convenient, but will usually cost you. I can’t count how many nightmare stories I’ve heard, and I’ve stopped several people from being bent over for repairs that aren’t needed at chain shops like that. Go somewhere you trust or to a reputable place from this site.

Top of my shit list? Monro and Hamburg Auto Center, both on Camp rd in Hamburg.

when i was 16-17, i took my old Thunderbird there for oil changes and inspections once or twice. they always were a pain in the ass to deal with, took forever, and ended up shafting me on my inspection one year (had to replace a ton of shit).

although this stupid Monro place is about 5 minutes from my house, i prefer to make the half hourish drive to Don’s (Carnut’s) shop and have things taken care of there. had a major brake service done with him on my girlfriend’s rusty Lumina, and he recently replaced the rotors, pads, and calipers on the rear of my Sentra. I dropped the Sentra off at 5pm and had a text by 10pm saying it was done. now that’s service. will definitely go back to him.

can’t imagine what a fucking nightmare it would have been as far as price and scheduling had i taken it to some chain shop that doesn’t give 2 fucks about customer service

idk why anyone has anything fixed there, shame on you

if they want to fail you for inspection let them, you made the decision to spend 600$ LOLOL

I didn’t realize how many venders there are on here. I thought it was only 2 or 3 but there are a bunch more shops than that.

This is why I take my car to the stealership for oil changes and inspections etc. Then again, I get them all for free with my maintenance plan so I never have to worry.

Don’t go to ANY Monroes !!!

^^ disagree. any of the chain stores can be hit or miss it all depends on the guy running the shop
the monro on the corner of ni fals blvd/sheridan is run by one of the best guys around (Mark B.) the guy knows his shit and is trustworthy as hell.
i have a nyspeed vendor do stuff i dont want /feel like doing (thks again Jason) but in a pinch that mnro has been good to me

Don is a hard worker and is always getting cars done on time when every I’m over their to see Gary don busts out like 50 cars in 1hours he’s fast and reliable and well worth every penny!

protip: trust this man.

As a rule of thumb I won’t ever go to a chain unless I know someone there doing the work. I’ll wait days or weeks to get the right person to work on any of my cars. I hate when someone is trying to take me for a ride thinking I’m an idiot.

Oh nevermind, thinking of a different store.

I manage a monro and i have helped so many people on this site. from employment to tire deals.Pauly, mark is an awesome guy he is probably one of the best store managers i ever met. I wont comment on this thread but your post is a little over the top for the scenario.

What’s funny is my problems with Monroe are exactly what everyone is saying. If you go there for an inspection you can always count on needing a lot of repairs with a ridiculous price-tag. And another thing… I was in a pinch one day and needed a muffler welded on my car quick. Well, they wouldn’t do it because I didn’t buy the part through them. He said it was “against the rules” even though it was a new OEM one. Went down the street to Cole and literally 10 minutes later I was driving around with my new muffler.
