The MGM Grand blaze on Nov. 21, 1980, flashed through the casino at a rate of 19 feet per second, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. An investigation determined that a sprinkler system could have averted the disaster; legal settlements totaled more than $223 million, the newspaper said. The hotel is now Bally’s.
The yahoo news article said that it started in the center of the building and traveled outwards across the roof. So an internal fire suppression system may have been useless…however a fire rated roof system would have been nice but since developers are cheap, I know exactly what system was up there and it burns better than wildfire.
Great news for my business once I get good pics of it
