Do you drink Mountain Dew? Today, after downing two liters in about three hours, I felt like I was going to shit my brains out… So I thought “I wonder what I’m actually drinking.”
Towards the end of the ingredient list is Brominated Vegetable Oil… sounds gross… but what the fuck does “brominated” mean?
So I looked it up:
“To combine (a substance) with bromine or a bromine compound”
okay…so I looked up Bromine…
A heavy, volatile, corrosive, reddish-brown, nonmetallic liquid element, having a highly irritating vapor. It is used in producing gasoline antiknock mixtures, fumigants, dyes, and photographic chemicals. Atomic weight 79.904; atomic number 35; melting point 7.2°C; boiling point 58.78°C; valence 1, 3, 5, 7. See table at element.
huh… and according to the World Health Organization, most European countries ban use of Brominated oils in foods because bromine accumulates in fat and generates fatty deposits in the organs, especially the liver.
yes… but so are juices (sugars) and coffee (obviously) and even some say green tea (caffiene)…
i don’t drink much ‘pop’, like mt dew or pepsi, i drink no coffee, and i drink green tea / juice daily… i’m still fat and i feel no different… so who knows
I used to drink tons of pop a few years ago and was constantly sick. I couldn’t eat anything but small snacks for a few months, then i decided to cut all pop and carbonation out of my diet. I feel like a million bucks again. I drink carbonated beverages on occation and still don’t drink anything with caffeine and my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore :dunno:
The shit can’t be real good for you if it takes rust off of cars!
yeah i stopped all carbonated/caffinated beverages (cept beer) and drank like half my weight in water (fluid ounces) along with making a couple other changes I lost close to 30 pounds. Now I can’t touch the stuff - which sucks b/c at work gatherings that is all they have
