Well this is a re-re-introduction on this board. I was a member of UBRF back in the day, then I found this board back in 2010 when I was trying to transfer back home this thread And now, I am finally moving back home this Spring.
I know there are some others here, I am a Customs & Border Protection Officer and have been working in Detroit for over 10 years. I just got an offer through the NROB to transfer back to Buffalo and have accepted it. It’s going to be a huge change for me as I’ve been an A-TCET guy for the past 6 or so years. Back to the line until the bid season at least.
Anyways, although I have my wife, a 4-year old and a 1 year old, I still like to do car stuff and find cash to mod my cars. Right now I have a 2011 WRX and a 2004 Mazda RX8.
My WRX has Enkei RPF1’s, short shifter, AEM intake, Accessport, 3" Magnaflow catback and a couple more small things. Some H&R coilovers will be coming soon.
My RX8 also has RPF1’s, H&R spring with Bilstein Shocks, EBC USR Rotors with Porterfield R4s pads, Corksport midpipe, SOHN adapter, Accessport with custom tune, BHR ignition, and some other goods I have probably forgot. I daily-drive it in the summer, but it’s more suited to the track.
Anyways, I am looking forward to being back home and hopefully attending some gtg’s. I will probably be a bit more active here on this board too.
Yes sir. My Fiero had a custom series-2 3800 turbo setup. I ran a 11.21 at 121mph on it in street trim. I sold it to a friend of mine who put a different turbo on and ran a 10.97 @127mph in full street trim. It still would get 27mpg too. I miss that car a bit, but I like driving my RX8 more as I find it much more fun to drive around turns than in a straight line. I did run my RX8 at the strip though and it runs high 14’s at ~96mph. Quite a difference haha.
I do a lot of my own work on my cars, but I have been to Horsepower Techs, Oakos Automotive, Steve’s European Auto, and Livernois Motorsports through the years for parts or various small projects and I have never had any issues with any of them. I have a ton of friends in the VW crowd and met some very talented people through them. My friend Bryan at BTEK Fabrication is one of the most talented automotive guys I have ever met and recommend him for any kind of fab-work. His welds are amazing. http://btekfabrication.com/ His instangram has a lot of pics of his work too.
No, my wife drives a Mazda-5. I do miss my TDI, except for the transmission. The DSG matched to the TDI was horrible. Low-speeds and stop/starts left the car hunting for gears and then slamming into place. Even S-mode and manual mode had issues like this. I had it reflashed a couple of times but was never happy with it. It really took the fun out of the car and I decided that fun and AWD were more important than mpg’s so I traded it in for my WRX.
