Forrester XT turbo FTW.
blindspots are NOT an issue if you get the small mirrors to add. I have owned the FJ over a year
oh and 2007 is the last year for Black Cherry (maroon) 2008 will offer a tan and an all white and I think a green.
also, the fj has disgusting sub 20 mpg highway quote]
Well of course it does. It’s a V6 SUV.
All V6 SUV’s have very comparable gas mileage.
Actually, most V6’s SUV’s get above 20 on the highway.
Hell, my 5.4 V8 Expedition gets 18-19 on the highway.
AKA, take your SUV hate to another thread, but make sure no one catches you wasting gas by just cruising, or autocrossing, or anything else that isn’t “necessary driving” as defined by the green party.

Just curious, but what are all these V6 SUVs that are getting over 20mpg while being 4x4 and capable off-road?
Jeeps - None over 20 for combined average with 4x4 and 6 cylinders
Chevy Equinox AWD - 19 combined
Chevy Tahoe 1500 4x4 - 16 combined
Chevy Trailblazer 4x4 - 14 city, 20 highway
v6 Escape with 4wd - 17 city / 21 highway
And the best V6 SUV mileage out of any…
Toyota Rav4 V6 with 4x4 - 19 city / 26 highway
I said nothing about OHHHHHHHHHH HE SHOULD GET SOMETHING ELSE
I simply said, all V6 SUVs sit around upper teens for average combined gas mileage.
*which is true

The original comment was the FJ has a sub 20 HIGHWAY MPG, which you then tried to lump most V6 SUV’s into. That’s not the case, even by the new and much stricter 2008 EPA ratings.
It just pisses me off that when ever someone wants to talk about trucks or SUV’s everyone is so quick to hop on the, “SUV’s suck, their mileage sucks, you really want a wagon” bandwagon.
No, I don’t want or need a wagon. I want and need an SUV.
And you did suggest an outback or forester, neither of which someone looking for an SUV could consider SUV’s, regardless of how much team subie tried to convince people otherwise.
All my figures were from fueleconomy.gov, and were based off the new strict EPA ratings.

Wrong wheel drive only. Besides, getting her to drive an auto would be an easier fight than getting her to drive a Ford. I can’t seem to convince her that not all Fords are the piece of crap money pits that my '92 F150 was.
What did you screw up on that truck? A 92 is probably one of the best f150’s they ever made, especially if it was a 6 cylinder.
How about Jeep? The smaller ones all come in manual. Patriot 4x4 standard is about 17, but it is a 4 cyl and basically car based, transverse engine. The 08 liberty is not as gay as current, its basically a Nitro. Comes with v6 or diesel (not in ny though), available with 6 speed standard, and part time or full time 4wd options. Should be up around $25k. Or are all Jeeps just gay?
Element is good too. My mom has one, its not a bad vehicle. I wouldn’t drive it but it’s good for a female.
my FJ AVERAGED 19mpg on a trip to Maine (city/highway), and thats with OVERSIZED OFFROAD tires. People are getting 22-25MPG on stock tires on the highway. Also I use 87 Octane, the recommended premium will provide more MPG but I am too cheap.

Well the first thing that comes to mind is the lovely oil pan. You know, one of the millions that Ford decided to paint while it was wet, trapping moisture under the paint, which made it inevitably rot out. No big deal. $80 for a new oil pan. Oh, did I mention you have to pull the motor to change it? I got used to stopping to check the gas and fill the oil.
All the fenders were rotting.
The shocks were rotted out.
The exhaust was rotted out.
The cat was rotted out.
The coolant looked like sludge when I got it.
I forget what needed to be replaced, I only remember the $350 dollar alignment to get it to track straight.
The thing never tracked a straight line under braking, despite new brakes all the way around.
Yeah, it had an I6. 140hp and 15 mpg highway. What an engine. :rolljerk:
Sure, maybe it was abused before me, but shouldn’t one of the best F150’s ever made be able to take abuse?
Oh, and this was all at the extremely high mileage of 77-90k. In 2002. :jawdrop: Think 1997 Toyotas with 80k miles are rotting away now? But no, Japanese trucks being better is just media propaganda.
It was the product of low quality materials and shoddy manufacturing processes. God help Ford if that was one of the best F150’s ever.

And I don’t think he feels like flying to CA or TX.
Honestly, if you could live with the half doors on the FJ that’s the best suggestion I’ve seen. I did it for a 36 month lease, and even though it was just me and my fiance/wife (got married while I had the truck) I HATED those half doors and promised I would never buy another half door vehicle.
^ That > anything posted so far, but no MT.

I would. I will never ever ever buy another car from WNY/The Rust Belt. My last 3 cars have been from out of state and it was worth every second of time I had to spend to get them. And none of those that I posted are over $19,500 right now.
Also I mainly posted them just to toss the option out there.

Depends on what you’re going to do with the car. Seems like a big waste of time for a vehicle his wife is going to put lots of miles on during the winter. It’s just going to end up rusty.
But, I’d never buy a used car as a DD with over 30k miles. Since almost everyone here buys their cars with 90k+ I understand not wanting to get a WNY car.

yeah… vue would be a great choice too
