Muscle cars

mustang and camero are pony cars, not muscle cars. So you could throw a lot more “muscle” into the mix and still not be a muscle car.

Pony cars are muscle cars

Definitions of Muscle Car on the Web:

Sometimes called “Pony Cars” too. Big giant V8 engines with super chargers and special exhaust created these gas-guzzlers that were really fast! Muscle cars reached their epitome in the 1960’s with the advent of the GTO, certain Mustangs, Camaro’s and some Chyrsler models like the Challenger, etc. Unfortunately the “energy crisis” killed this genre of cars.

So muslce car =oldschool…but there are modern musclecars which some argue are not true muscle cars but I feel they can be classified as american muscle

no, and no amount of interweb pages will change that fact. Pony cars are pony cars, not muscle cars.

are pony cars just as desirable and fast as muscle cars, yes, but they are not muscle cars.

a true def of a muscle car is a 2 door, large displacement engine, intermediate size car. thats why they call the 64 GTO the first one. GM a-bodys, chrysler b-bodys. etc… modern muscle is something different

I see your arguement but if you look at the the definition (not some lame interweb) then f-bodies and stangs would fall into it.

that 2nd link had a galaxie as a muscle car and dusters, only with a certain engine. That’s a fucked up list.

pony cars are different than muscle cars, IMHO. I would never consider a camaro a muscle car.

f-bodys are not intermediate size cars. i forgot some of the definition. 2door, RWD, full frame, intermediate size, large displacement. a duster back then was a compact.

what about the 69 ZL1 Camaro/Yenko Camaro? no muscle there?

have an 86 elcamino, had a big block in it. not sure what i am gonna put back into it. have worked on many muscle cars though

:hsdance:

heard junkyard motors run pretty good:D

you heard very well now get a 6.0 and come with it son

69 camaro

and i might buy a 72’ chevelle ss

it depends on who you talk to…

most people say that muscle cars are bigger cars (like the chevelles) with big engines in them.

i personally feel that old camaros, and mustangs are muscle cars… but i will refer to them as pony cars

heres ours

yea he doe’s but what can you do. it was forrest green with a black vinal top/ bench seat with a 4 speed. he spun a rod bearing in the original motor and put a 454 from a 70 chevelle(not an ls6) in it. then he scraped the 427. the motor’s alone are worth an ass load

jeff go with the 6.0 and sell the BB. everybody has a bb el camino but not a 6.0 el camino

how about the 80’s cars, 305/350 was a large displacement for that time being, in stock from the factory terms. Or is that when they where starting to turn into sports cars?

or can one build a muscle car, 2 door full frame, passanger car, with large displacement?

66 Chevelle Post Car (300 Deleuxe), with a BUILT 396…pushin close to 600hp…that considered muscle??
