no, nothing from the 80’s is a muscle car - the 80’s fucking sucked for cars
True story,
one car from the 80’s is a muscle car but would be modern muscle…the buick grand national!!!
i disagree, a v6 could never be a muscle car, plus its an 80’s Fuel injected car, I would think when the term came out or cars where listed under the muscle car stats, they had a carbed motor in mind.
x2
I think muscle cars can be broken into 2 groups…old school muscle and new school
I guess everyone has their own different idea. If someone says “muscle car” the last thing on my mind is a car newer than 1971, it’s just not the same. This is why I despise the new GTO so much. When I hear someone talking about their GTO and I find out it’s a 2005, I want to stab the person in their head for ruining the name of the ultimate muscle car.
New cars are faster, handle better, and are more reliable, but they are not muscle cars, they just do not have the same “attitude” that the old cars had.
I agree, now if I took a new oldschool car lets say an 80’s monte ss, took the joke of a motor out and went with something like a radical SBC or BBC, would it then be a muscle car in the newer aspect. its hard to just say thats a “muscle car” what REALLY tells one that it truly is, 11’s 10’s ET, or 500+ hp/tq, or the earlier stated reason’s, FI or Carbed. I just think that when I see something of great caliper with lots of engineering and design I say its a tough ride or just plain mean. But I have seen the general conscionces say the 70’s was the muscle car era. I dont know.
I can see that, I think in my view I would see the newer cars with are more like sports cars then muscle cars,
64-71 was muscle car era
an 80’s car with 84,000hp is not a muscle car, nor can a 1/4 mile time make a car a muscle car.
good thread
maybe this would truly identify the muscle cars what where the “muscle cars” built back then that haven’t been moderenized, meaning 1st vette, 2nd and so on, maybe the only ones where the ones sole back then that have stayed there, and have not advanced?
did i not say a gn was “modern” muscle?
x2
but a 80 monte w/ 600 hp pro street style is a modern muscle car. Domestic only car thats had extensive work done to make it alot faster than what it came stock
an import can have 900000000 hp still not muscle its just a very fast import
agreed!
A muscle car is a car that was bought with the large hp engine. It can’t be built… Back in the 60’s and early 70’s there was a rivalry between the guys who built there cars and those who could afford to buy a muscle car. A great movie that shows this is Two Lane Blacktop
two lane black top was the one hour or so in my life that i want back. WORST MOVIE i ever saw. seriously.
I guess your one of those guys who would rather watch Titanic…
Just was trying to give a reference to the difference between a muscle car and a modified…
Personally think that Two Lane Backtop is a great "CAR" movie.......but consider me a relic...:dunno:
x2
have to check it out!?!?!
