Hey guys sorry its taken so long to post this its been very busy since we’ve been back.
Drag week was a blast. If you even have the chance to do this I would highly suggest it. The people competing, the Hot Rod staff, and track staff are so easy to get along with and more down to earth than I might expect. Check the hot rod forums for some truley great stories.
The two rain days and the drives between the tracks were a little rough.
I entered the dd 12.00 class. The object in that class was to get a 5 day average as close to 12.00 as possible. You were allowed to turn in a slip up to 2tenths quicker than 12.0 I decided to turn in 11 sec passes untill the last day and slow the car down to get the time I needed to average 12.0.
With the two rain days we were only albe to race for three days.
Day one ran only twice and turned in 11.917
Day two ran only twice and turned in 11.801
Day three first pass was 12.33? which put me @ 12.017 as an average. The track was so empty I hot lapped the car until I started missing gears trying to get to 12.00. Finally decided that 12.01 might put me into the top 4. I waited around a little and talked to a few people and heard the was a couple people that had turned in 12.00 averages so I through my tool bag in the car and hit the brakes right @ the finsh line for a 12.294 pass which put my average @ 12.004. I was so excited I was sure I was in the top 4 if not maybe the overall winner in my class. Well turns out it was good enough for 7th place out of 61 cars.
I entered this thinking that it was going to be a blast and it was. Who would have ever thought I would have got that close.
I did hit several .0? lights with the best being .01 backed up by two .02’s and ran the fastest I’ve ever gone.
