I originaly was going for the B8 A4 LED shape/pattern that you see in the new Adui commercials. But the curve up towards the center would get in the way of the high beam projector.
So, I went with a modified new A5/S5 pattern. The difference is that I didn’t extend the LED all the way to the edge. It just kind of flowed better with the B6 (2002-2005 A4) this way.
I used e-code headlights, and canibalized the low beam projector out of my old stock housings and formed it in to be the new high beam. Took out all inside metal beam cut-off blockers for the highs so the high beam is bright and has no beam cut-off.
Yes I know there are still holes. I haven’t finished off that part or covered with CF yet. The holes are from putting the projector housing in where the old huge high beam housing was.
The LED are not “blue”. I couldn’t get the pic to take them as “white” as they are. They match the HID low beam color. Those with LED’s know what I mean. The appearance of the low beam is only due to the flash of the camera. The lows and highs are not hooked up yet.
These aren’t close to done. I’ve been messing with the LED curve, and have even adjusted it somewhat already since the pics were taken to flow better off the seam angle between the hood and front fender. In addition, everything in the interior of the housing will be covered with Carbon Fiber (and I’m in doing the splitter and all grilles with CF overlay, as well). And the LED will have a small “eyelid” cover across the top of the LED strip, and a semi-clear lense cover will go over the LED. Right now they are just exposed.
The red line you may see is just dry erase marker on the clear lens so I can get the angle I’m looking for. It rubs right off.
So that’s it. The interior of my ecodes is chrome. Which made them hella cheap to buy. It didn’t matter because I knew I was covering them in CF. But right now, they look like ass and are picking up reflections in a way that the CF won’t when completed.
I noticed this was the latest fad on the Audi forums when i checked in last. Very ricey imo. Car Gods should have put a stop to this after the halo projector stint.
I agree with the halos. That isn’t an Audi factory item on any car. It’s BMW. Should stay there.
But, with LED’s being a factory item on Audi’s now, I don’t see anything wrong with it on another almost-new Audi, as long as the LED design is mimmicked from a design Audi uses (which I did- the A5/S5). When the fools are going to town on the forums with their own LED design is when I think it’s crossing the line.
Or when other brands of car try to do something that is seemingly now an Audi trademark. I even see the dubs on Vortex and a few Hyundais trying variations on the Audi design. And now people are saying even the major Asian imports are getting in to it. That is ricey.
I’d call this more “suerkraut-ey”.

This pattern I chose actually follows the same curves of the outer portion of the foglight grilles, and the outer portion of the center inlet. It works. The LED’s are just a flexible cheap chinese eBay strip. They are NOT what the final product will be. I have the 10mm super-brights that are used in the S6 ordered. The are individual LED’s that will be drilled in.
I used the flexible strip for the design stage because I could make it any shape I’d wanted. The strip has a very small LED every 1cm. I cancelled out every other one so they are now 2cm. With the Audi single LED’s drilled in, I will probably end up at about 2.5cm.
The strip was so much easier than forming a backing for each design and drilling in single LED’s. This way I could lock in a design before I did that stuff.
The backing is all done with sculpting clay. Once I have the final shape and design set, I’ll then harden the clay and get a mold off of it. Then that will be done in carbon fiber and the single LED’s will be tapped in.
These pics are just a beginning stage of it all to see if the design sticks.
The latest design has separation between the two projector housings to fill up the space towards the center grille. And the LED’s will extend all the way to the edge closest to the center grille, as well.
