My two triplet stories with a single monster in the middle

Sorry, this is far from the best thing I have ever written.

Here is the reader’s digest, baby-wise, of the last three years of my life.
2009 – Found out we were pregnant with triplets and made a huge deal letting everyone know on Christmas eve.
2010 – February 16th, at 19 ½ weeks pregnant my wife started bleeding and having terrible pain around 10:00pm. She called the doctor and they told us to come right in. We got to sisters hospital around 11:00, where they got her right in and checked her. Come to find out the pains were contractions and there was nothing they could do to stop the babies from coming.
February 17th, 2:00am, my first daughter was born. She was alive and perfect just about five weeks too early. The doctors hoped that after the first baby was born, the drugs would kick in and prevent the other two babies from coming but it didn’t happen. At 4:52am and 4:54am my next two daughters were born. They were just about the size of our hand, alive and perfect again. It was amazing that the first was alive until the second two were born and then basically the three of them passed away together. It is pretty hard to think about it in such detail as I write this but the story does have a happy ending. In memory of my three baby girls I got this tattoo, which is actual size of their tiny footprints. I was never a huge fan of tattoos because I thought people got them for the wrong reason. After I got this one I got the itch and have been counting down the days until the next one.

Ok now onto the happy parts of this story.
August – We found out we were pregnant again; this time it was only one thankfully. My wife still went to the doctor every single week to be monitored to make sure everything was going well.

2011 – February - Fast forward 38 weeks and we got this little guy. Healthy baby boy #1, total child count 4.

Now the real fun begins. Christmas time 2011, we find out we are pregnant again. AND IT’S WITH TRIPLETS, AGAIN. My wife and I look at each other, I start sweating and ask the doctor, how did this happen. It was a pretty nerve-wracking time as we told our parents, friends and family. Everyone gave us the same look that went, hehe oh, ok, fully expecting the worst. Again, we went to the doctor every week for checkups and each one was better than the one before. As the 19th week approached, I began to get uneasy. It came and went with out a problem. Next was the 24th week, were viability is reached and chance of survival goes up, no problems there. Few weeks later at 31, the doctor said everything looks great; anything from here on out is a bonus. Ok now I can breathe a little bit and start to focus on being a father of 4.

Week 33, we head to sisters for our weekly, Wednesday appointment. My wife’s blood pressure was pretty high but it is normally so no big deal, right? Wrong! They send us down to labor and delivery and tell us that the babies are coming today or tomorrow. I run home to pack up stuff for my son, pack myself a bag and load up the dog to get him to Petsmart for the night. I flew back to the hospital just in time to throw on a hairnet, mask and onesie and walk into the operating room. At 9:23pm my triplet sons were born right around 4 lbs. each and my wife did amazing. Middle baby was having trouble breathing so the doctors had to bag him and put him on a ventilator for the night. By the time we went up in the morning he was off it and doing well.
They will be in the NICU at Sisters for a while, probably their due date of July 11th, so I have some time to get their room ready and sell my kidneys for diapers and formula. I’m sure I left details out but this post is long enough. The army is taking over and plans for a new tattoo are in the works. Can’t wait to bring these little guys home.

Congratulations!

Congrats man thats a roller coaster ride of a story! I wish those little buggers the best and hope you don’t have to wait until July to get them home! Good luck boys!

WTF, my stomach turned when I read the first part. I am a dad now and another on the way, i couldn’t imagine what you went through. I am very happy for you that you have beautiful healthy babies now. Best of luck.

Thanks ya it was a tough time, and much tougher on my wife, that is for sure. We had great support from friends and family which helped us get through it for sure. I kind of hope they stay until July, only because I am midway through a kitchen remodel and have a ton of stuff to do to get their room ready. They are in great hands at Sisters and I will recommend that hospital to anyone.

A little update for those of you that care. Babies are now two weeks old as of yesterday and are doing great. They have been moved out of their isolets and into regular cart cribs that are open. Yesterday the doctors agreed that they could start bottle feeding so my wife and I were able to give that a shot with some success. Two of the little guys weigh 4 lbs. 11 oz. and the other fatso weighs 5 lbs. They are doing great and we think they should be home by the end of the month if they continue to show improvements.
