I’ve been with PNC, as my employer is linked with them, for years. Never a single issue, and for anything credit related I keep accounts with a credit union. No charges for using any ATM, at any time, for any reason FTW. Money markets that yield higher than performance savings accounts also FTW.
I heard they have crazy charges for things like overdrafts. Since im always on the verge of having no money that makes me dislike them
You can set up over draft protection to avoid this by linking your savings account to you checking as a back up…but there is still a fee i believe…a good idea is to manage your finances better.
Ding Ding…
Even when I rolled pennies to have enough for the week’s oodles of noodles, I didn’t overdraft. Don’t buy whatcha can’t afford, and only buy what you know you have the money in-hand for, or know what the credit card bill is gonna tell you the next month.
yeah… I guess i’m more of an idiot that someone that can’t manage money… i will typically have a few hundred in an account that i use as my only debit card… I have found myself charging more than i have in that account numerous times where I didn’t realize I spent a few hundred online, gas for both cars and dinner out for a few nights. I call and as a customer in good standing have the fees removed, but i am an idiot and should pay more attention.
I went through the nat city to first viagra while in europe… it was piss poor service and i couldn’t get any money from those accounts at all… luckily i have a bank of america debit and savings and was able to use that card at any ATM internationally, without issue or atm fees… :hsugh: I am dumping all first niagria accounts for PNC as well… just did the mortgage thing so didn’t want to jump bank to bank until it was done with.
I’ve also been a credit union member for over 20 years (mom opened the account when i was born)… they do have decent rates, but the sheer fact that they are open 5 days a week 9am to 4:30pm without flexability usually leaves me going with someone else. PNC matched the rate on car loans from them and my mortgage company beat their APR. :dunno:
