I’m hoping someone here with a C5 might be able to get me two dimensions from the door glass on their car. I am designin a MIA window lense rention system for the carbon fiber monocoque chassis C5 for my sister and Robert and wanted to get some basic stuff done tonight without calling them overseas at 4am.
I need the length and height of the door glass. Length measure at the widest point, and height measure at the highest point from the glass edge to the actual metal of the door(not the top of the lower wiper seal)
If someone sees this and can get it to me tonight that’d be great
We’re trying to make this setup so the car complies with some BS regulations that a particular series carries they want to run in this year. The entire chassis and doors are of carbon and do not have any provisions whatsoever for a window system, so we’re forming windows from CL1100 modified impact acrylic to mount to the tops of the doors. Being that they’re the same frameless window type door design as OEM, there is not enough rigidity in the door itself to support the entire window and overcome the enormous pressure exerted on the glass when blasting down the straights at ~180-200mph on the Nords and Sarthe. So were’ making a simple upper retention system to hold the window in place, but still release when getting in/out of the vehicle automatically. Can’t be any hard lock on it, incase they have to bail or a EMS needs to evac.
Adam, Do you have a website or anything with the stuff you do? i see all this stuff and things you and others post asking you and seem to make some cool stuff. Id like to check it out.
I do but it’s shit and has little on it at the moment. It was one of those wife knew a lady who knew a guy who does it kinda deals and whipped something up. A majority of the prototype stuff I do comes with NDA’s, so I can’t legally show any of it without written consent.
Being that the business will now have “retail products” for sale this year, and the (hopefully) upcoming release of the kit cars I definitely need to hire a professional to create and site for the business. It’s just something that hasn’t been high on the list as of late, even with my wife insisting it is(and she’s right)
