I was just looking for a printer recently, but was looking for a small portable one. Canon i90v probably doesn’t help you at all, but it seemed to have good reviews.
Pricey though.
I always buy my ink’s off ebay, as $1 cartridges vs. $15-$20 in store.
I have a dell 1100 laser.
They are 89 bucks new.
I’ve ran mine through 3 toner cartridges, only had it jam about 3 times total.
Toner is around 40 bucks for 5000 pages.
What kind of volume are you looking for. And will it be predominately black print or about 50/50 black and color?
I would say it will be used for about 70/30 Black/Color. Maybe used every other day. It is just used for printing on envelopes.
Any local places have deals?
Consider a Xerox Phaser … $650 for the lower end model. It’s what I’m about to buy for my SOHO needs. GREAT color quality, super sharp (laser-like) in bnw too of course; no minimum workload requirement. The color cartridges (not ink jet, but similar, sort of) will last forever – and no worries about them drying the print heads out like ink jet printers will do if not used often enough.
I was thinking of spending under $100
I just bought an Epson CX4400 at Target for $60.
I don’t print much at home, but my old printer died and not having one was pissing me off. Seems pretty damn good for $60. Print, scan, copy. It’s got the individual ink tanks for black, yellow, blue and red so you can replace just the one that’s low, and they ink wasn’t that expensive at target. I can probably find it even cheaper online.
