I need to find a place that can replace a motherboard on a laptop for cheap. Dell wants to rip me off and some don’t know how to do it on a laptop.

$150-200. People I have asked have said they have gotten their’s replaced around that price. But I can’t find a place that will do it for less than $450 and I can’t spend 2k for a decent replacement.
My comp is a Dell Inspirion 2650 w/ a P4 processor and XP, if thats any help.
up to you man… 150-200 with parts or ontop? i’d put it together… you can get a working board for 25 bucks… but the problem is that it’s not gaurenteed… you’d save mad loot if it worked though… probably the route i’d take firs.t… if that sucks, then you’re looking at about 150 for a board… then install fee.
i’d do the install for pennies, but you can’t come back and bitch… i’d do it for a good 350 and help with shit if it breaks.
it’s a touchy issue… usually if you don’t buy OEM replacments there are issues.

Just an update. A friend of a friend offered to try to fix it. Put a new motherboard in, still fucked. Couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. So now I have to spend around $1500+ on a new one.

Well, the “friend” has known my mom for about 20 years and he has known the guy who looked at my computer for about 15 years and done all his businesses’ computer work and apparently never had any problems.
