Need help from someone with an E36

I’ve been having an issue with the hazards flashing on my car and I suspect it’s due to the relay (In part because I can’t find anything else wrong). Can someone with an e36 meet up with me so I can test the relay before I plop down $85 for it?

IIRc they have a limp mode thing as well that puts the four ways on. As Clark about it he knows more on the subject. Happened to him when he mowed down bambi’s mother in cold blood on the highway…

I’ve been all around bimmer forums checking up on that topic but mine didn’t seem to have the bad part that others did. I’ll get a hold of him though, it would be great if I could have blinkers again.

I do! I just went through this, only all of my blinkers stopped working. Oh, and don’t spend $85 on that relay.

Swapped a relay from Crappucino’s ti in, worked fine, so I replaced it and it’s been fine since.

Also happened in my first race. Podiumed with the hazards on, bitches!

The body control sensor will get set off if its managed to come loose, but it also turns on the dome lights and other things. If that’s the case, its in the passenger kick panel behind the speaker.

Interesting. Everything I read was saying the crash relay sensor did exactly that. Hopefully this does it, I have doubts that the hazard relay would go bad and constantly flash the lights rather than have them not work at all.

are you sure about that location? I found nothing behind the speaker.

Reach into the hole for the speaker. It’s bolted to the body above that hole with, I think, 1 Phillips head screw.

^ yup. bitch to get to.

what a POS. I cant find shit up there. Flashlight doesn’t help either because I can’t get my head anywhere that I can see in it

You need twig arms like me.

And flashlights don’t work for dick on germans cars. Anything you’d ever have to locate with a flashlight is tucked so far up where the sun never shines that even if you could position the light you’d never get your face in there to see what the hell you’re working at.

Right above hole. You can get to the screw from the outside (in the main footwell when the cover is off. It’s right there.

Edit: Just realized how super unhelpful that was. IT’S RIGHT THERE, MIKE, RIGHT THERE!

Good luck with the speaker kick panel, particularly getting everything to line back up/snap back together/even come apart without breaking something(s)

I honestly think it’s not there. LOL

What yr?

already broke. I’m way past that.

Let me talk through this to figure out what I’m doing wrong.

-pulled off kick panel (PS)
-pulled off panel below glove box
-Removed speaker
-Removed speaker foam
-Reached in speaker hole and found: some wires for speakers, some sort of block where the wires from the door pass through into cabin.

Am i looking in the right spot?

It’s john’s old '94

Sounds right. Post a pic of the sheet metal where the speaker bolts to.

looks like you’ve got yourself another track car
