Need help with ip camera setup

We would like to install IP cameras at my warehouse where we could view the cameras from our phones, or get emails when motion is detected.

This is not our area of specialty and apparently requires some degree of expertise.

Anyone here familiar?

DYI or contracting?

High end? The low end motion masking sucks balls. You’ll have flies set off your email alert and be bombarded with false alarms.

Logitech makes some decent ones for the price and are viewable from your phone I believe.

we’ll pay someone, as I’ve heard setting them up can be a bit difficult

anyone have links to equipment recommendations?

How many cameras? Will they be PTZ? What do you have set up for infrastructure so far? Black and White/Color? IR capabilities or do you leave the lights on?

black and white is probably ok, as far as pan tilt zoom I would have to weigh cost options for ptz cameras vs. setting up a few fixed camera instead.

we really only have 3 rooms we would need them in (the ones with exterior doors). Don’t really know enough about them, looking for someone who does and doesn’t mind getting paid to inform us and set them up

I consult for my friend who sells these in his web store. Has a range of them to suit your needs. PM me your contact info if you want.

I’m using QSee camera system at my restaurant. It’s a low end system with 500GB with 8 cameras. I set it up so it can be view with any computer with internet connection and also via Iphone. It’s fairly easy to setup. The system is about $400, but if you need motion sensor alert then you have to look for system that have that. It’s also depends on what you want out of the picture quality.

Good deal on a fairly basic 8 channel IP DVR. You should rip out the 500gb and throw a 2TB drive in there of course. Might work for your needs…check it out.

Great price on a 2tb 7.2k drive that would be compatible. Just rip it out of the case and mount it in your DVR.

I haven’t used one of those IP DVR before but it seems like it would work fairly well for what you’ve described. As far as the hard drive goes, it go more along the lines of the Western Digital AV series that are rated with a higher mean time between failures.

Not a bad price either.

No cameras included??

No. Certainly not to be expected at that price. Did you look at the link?
Also don’t buy a bundle of DVR with cameras. The cameras are usually crap for one and they will almost always have a fixed focal length. Varifocal is the way to go.

Again, go varifocal. Look at this link to get an idea of what focal range your distance will call for in your application.

Added----
6-15mm seems to be a good, flexible range for most applications.
