need info on gm supercharger...

will any gm superchargers ( that came on gtp’s or bonnevilles) bolt up to a 3.4 alero motor? any info on this is greatly appreciated:eekdance:

I don’t think so but check out 60degreeV6.com they would know.

i believe the superchargers only came on 3800s, which would be a completely different motor than your 3400

no

Won’t work. I had a Grand Am GT for a few years and did a lot of research on the same idea. They make superchargers for the car but I wouldn’t even bother if you have a stock transmission. VERY VERY weak on that car with any kind of modding. Check out www.gaownersclub.com for more info on 90 degree V6 vs 60 degree V6.

There is much more involved than just bolting on a roots blower and calling it a day.

Fuel, mass air, tune, etc etc…

If i ever, ever had to change a serpentine belt on one of those…

id kill myself

lol thx but its not my car

After some talk with a cpl buddies,…The 3400 and the 3800 are based off pretty much the same parts.

dude, you even posted pics? your eyes work???

After some talk with a cpl buddies, if it’s the LA1 3400 motor it should work. The 3400 and the 3800 are based off pretty much the same parts.

Umm… no. Like Boomin’ mentioned, the 3400 is a 60-degree V6, while the 3800 is a 90-degree V6. So unless you have a custom intake manifold made, it won’t fit. If you do have a custom manifold made, then it won’t be a cheap mod.

I see they have the same 710
the SC should bolt on right there.

ARRGHHH. It pisses me off when someone comes on with some outragious “helpful” information that is way waaaaaaaaaay the fuck off from the truth. Imagine if this person took that post as actual helpful information spent the money to go ahead on this project and then realized how different they are. How ignorant.

The 3400 and the 3800 are based off pretty much the same parts. The intake parts would be the same patterns. You would need the lower intake for the swap obviously. It wouldnt be a direct fit bolt on though with the difference of pullies and brackets.

There is not one fucking engine part thats remotely close.

lol well ty, anyone have ideas on what my buddy can do to supercharge (or any other high power mod) he can do? hes already chipped.

Like I said man, walk away. That tranny is WEAK! They sell superchargers for that motor or he could go the nitrous route. I’ve also seen a few custom turbo setup’s. The few people I’ve known that have actually put up that much $ to work on that motor hated themselves later when they found out that their tranny lasted almost 1,000 miles before destroying itself. Not to mention with the weak aftermarket for Alero’s there aren’t too many strong drivetrain parts available. Also the stock axels are junk when you start putting down decent power.

The upper and lower intakes arent that far off. Call me a fucktard, but its a plausable swap. Just not a smart one.

Ding, winner.

ok fucktard…take a look of both of them side by side…then call yourself a fucktard. please.

<~~~Fucktard, fucked up. Lapse of thinking, gave false information under the pretence that he was correct. Luckily no one or no thing was harmed in this interweb mishap. Stupid flows easier than intelligence. However anything can be done. Putting a 3800 s/c on a 3400 isnt a impossible feat. Just a very stupid one that would require alot of work. The same way you can mate a 3800 s/c to a LQ1 DOHC motor. It took a lot of work but it worked. Hell it’s been done more than once.

Just for a reference…

Also. Since I need to make my point a bit more clear…this is how DIFFERENT they are. What you dont see is a side shot. A 3800 lower intake is similiar to a stock small block chevy intake manifold as its roughly 2" high. A 3100/3400/3500 engines lower intake is a huge 6" or so.

Heres the side shot…

Itake designs are diferent. Its a older 2.8 on the left, 31/3400 in the middle, and I’d guess a 3500 on the right.

…and like I said…the 3800 looks similiar to a stock small block chevy intake manifold.

Oh, and here is a 60degree V6 performance site…no big power adders though.
