need nerd assistance - ableton live on my macbook

I run ableton live for all my production and studio work.

Today my ableton told me I had a copyright violation because my software is cracked.

http://peachstone.net/index.php?action=view_month&month=1172700000&module=weblogmodule&src=%40random44be21cd32932

is the only page I could find. Tried everything listed. Tried reinstalling, uninstalling, reinstalling, recracking…etc etc.

I think I’m going to buy the program…but does anyone have any suggestions before I drop the few hundo on it? Genius they are…you make a few tracks on it and then you get fucked with this shit.

Any suggestions?

what firewall are you using? any firewall that’s worth using should prompt you before letting anything access the internet. Maybe try out another one?

is there a hosts file on mac’s?

there has to be something like it

edit your /etc/hosts file and send any traffic to their homepage to localhost

can prevent it from calling home.

127.0.0.1 www.ableton.com
127.0.0.1 ableton.com

Mac OS > 9 has a hosts file.

Its a unix filesystem.

9 and under have some goofy woofy shit with System preferences and system folder.

either way theres no reason to do it, it’s already corrupted my version.

So uninstall your version and install Kevins…
